What are fare families?
Qatar Airways’ Fare Families are a diverse range of offers that give customers the flexibility to choose a fare and product that matches their travel needs.
What is changing with Qatar Airways’ fare families?
Qatar Airways is introducing new entry-level unbundled Economy Lite and Business Lite fare families. Furthermore, it is embedding permanent flexibility features in select Economy and Business fare families.
When do the changes go into effect?
The changes will go into effect for sales starting 4 September 2021 for travel from 1 October 2021. For tickets issued outside this timeframe, the current fare families will be honored.
Why is Qatar Airways updating its fare families?
Qatar Airways is adding additional options in a bid to offer greater choice to its passengers. Each fare family offers passengers a clear, distinct set of products and services designed to meet the specific needs of its broad customer base.
What does this mean in reference to Passenger Guidelines 1060 Extending Our Commitment
We appreciate the challenges that customers face today when it comes to planning for international travel. To give the utmost confidence, we will continue to give customers full flexibility for all travel completed by 31 May 2022. For details, please refer to our website.
Will the new fare families apply to tickets issued by other airlines?
Customers booking through other airlines will benefit from the terms and conditions of the issuing carrier.
Will the new fare families apply to codeshare flights (flights operated by partner airlines)?
Customers booking through Qatar Airways will benefit from the Qatar Airways terms and conditions.
Will there be different fare families for each passenger (i.e. adult, children, infant)?
All passenger types except infants will benefit from the updated fare families. No changes are being made to the infant offering.
Which fare families apply if ticketed with mixed cabins?
Attributes as per journey will be applicable (per direction / bound).
If there is a mix between short-haul First and Business, the fare basis class will apply.
Will the new fare families be available in the GDS?
Core attributes including baggage and seating eligibility will be filed for the GDS. However, fare family brand names will only be displayedthrough rich content enabled interfaces.
Are there any changes to Privilege Club elite / tier member benefits?
The existing tier benefits will be available for Privilege Club elite members.
Will I get complimentary access if I booked Business Classic (RBD R) prior to 4 September 2021, but am travelling post 1 October 2021.
Yes, we will give customers access to the more generous and updated Business Classic attributes and will provide complimentary lounge access.
If I booked Business Classic (RBD R) prior to 4 September 2021, but am travelling post 1 October 2021 and have already bought a lounge voucher, will I get a refund.
We will unfortunately not be able to refund this amount.
If I book the new Business Lite and I am an elite member of Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club frequent flyer programme , will I get complimentary lounge access
Yes, we will provide complimentary access to the lounge as per the elite benefits.
If I book the new Business Lite and I am an elite member of another oneworld carrier’s frequent flyer programme , will I get complimentary lounge access
Yes, we will provide complimentary access to the lounge as per the oneworld elite benefits.
