Qatar Airways Recognised for its Outstanding Achievements at Luxury Network International Awards in Lebanon

Award-winning airline commended by Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Ali bin Hamad Al Marri during the event

 

DOHA, Qatar:  Qatar Airways has been recognised for its outstanding achievements at the Luxury Network International Awards that took place at the Hilton Beirut Habtoor Grand Hotel, Lebanon on 30th April.

The prestigious event was organised by the world’s leading luxury affinity marketing group, The Luxury Network, in cooperation with CAEL (Contribution Appreciation to Embassies in Lebanon) and under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Lebanon, His Excellency Mr. Saad Hariri. It was attended by Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Ali bin Hamad Al Marri, Hamad International Airport Vice President Commercial and Marketing, Mr. Abdulaziz Al Mass, Project Executive Director Hamad Port, Eng. Jassim Al-Shirawi, as well as other dignitaries and VIP guests including Arab and international businessmen and international brands.

During the awards ceremony, which was designed to support tourism, investment and the economy in Lebanon, Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Ali bin Hamad Al Marri was honoured for the achievements of the State of Qatar in Lebanon, including Qatar’s contribution to a number of development and reconstruction projects in Lebanon.  

During H.E. Mr. Ali bin Hamad Al Marri’s speech, he honoured Qatar Airways as key to this success, and presented the airline with an award on its achievements and the tremendous role that the award-winning airline has played in the growth of the Qatari economy and in making new global partnerships. The award was received by Hamad International Airport Vice President Commercial and Marketing, Mr. Abdulaziz Al Mass. H.E. the Ambassador also honoured and commended Hamad Port for its achievements during the ceremony.

During the awards ceremony, a documentary video was also shown to guests highlighting Qatar Airways’ key achievements.

Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Ali bin Hamad Al Marri said: “It’s my honour to participate in this event, which recognises the State of Qatar and showcases its achievements and contributions. That includes Qatar Airways, which is a world leader in terms of offering comfort, luxury and safety for civil aviation, and affirms the airlines’ ability to innovate in different fields.”

Hamad International Airport Chief Operating Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer, said: “This award and recognition is a true achievement for the Qatar Airways Group. Our team is proudly serving millions of people around the world on board our award-winning national carrier and at our five star hub, Hamad International Airport. Our commitment is to continue providing the people of Lebanon, a country which we have been serving for more than 20 years, with the best travel experience to the hundreds of destinations that we fly to”.

Qatar Airways has a long history in Lebanon, and has been operating flights to Beirut since the airline began its operations more than 20 years ago. The award-winning airline currently operates four daily flights to Lebanon’s capital city of Beirut. The popular route is operated by a mix of the airline’s state-of-the-art aircraft, including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-900. In addition, the airline also shares a codeshare agreement with Lebanon’s national carrier, Middle East airlines, demonstrating the strong ties between Lebanon and Qatar.

Qatar Airways Cargo currently offers customers belly-hold cargo capacity to and from Lebanon. The cargo carrier also operates a regular freighter operation to and from Beirut, with two freighters each week flying to the capital.

Since August 2017, citizens from Lebanon can also enjoy a visa waiver upon arrival in Doha. The waiver will be valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and entitle its holder to spend up to 30 days in Qatar, during either a single trip or on multiple trips. This waiver may be extended for a further 30 days, allowing Lebanese visitor’s ample time to enjoy the best the State of Qatar has to offer.

Qatar Airways serves an extensive global route map of more than 150 destinations, with plans to add a host of new and exciting business and leisure destinations throughout 2018-19, including London Gatwick, United Kingdom; Tallinn, Estonia; Valletta, Malta; Cebu and Davao, Philippines; Langkawi, Malaysia; Da Nang, Vietnam; Bodrum and Antalya, Turkey; Mykonos, Greece and Málaga, Spain.

The airline has received a number of accolades last year, including ‘Airline of the Year’ by the prestigious 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards, which was held at the Paris Air Show. This is the fourth time that Qatar Airways has been awarded this global recognition. In addition, the national carrier of the State of Qatar also won a raft of other major awards at the ceremony, including ‘Best Airline in the Middle East,’ ‘World’s Best Business Class’ and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge.’
