To ensure your safety, and to be in compliance with international regulations, please note that there are restrictions placed on dangerous goods and other security restricted articles allowed in passenger baggage. Dangerous goods are items that pose a hazard to health, safety, property or the environment.

There are instances that your passenger will require to reserve extra seats for baggage in the aircraft cabin.

What is Cabin Baggage :

Carry-on bags, sometimes known as hand luggage or cabin baggage, are items of luggage that are taken into the aircraft cabin. This part of the baggage is not checked in before a customer’s flight and is normally stored in the overhead storage compartment above a passenger’s seat.

The maximum allowance for this purpose is :

  • For First & Business Class – 2 pieces of baggage weighing no more than 15 kgs and of a dimension not exceeding 50x37x25cms
  • For Economy class – 1 piece of baggage weighing no more than 7kgs and of a dimension not exceeding 50 x 37 x 25 cms.
  • Please note: Local regulations shall apply whenever the allowance is less than the above.

Laptops and its bags must fit within the cabin baggage allowance.

 

Baggage may be carried on additional seat/s in the passenger cabin (CBBG), provided it belongs to one of the following categories:

  • Delicate items that could be damaged or broken if carried in the aircraft/baggage hold. This includes musical instruments, paintings, electronic equipment etc.
  • Valuables such as money, gold, jewellery, diplomatic courier in accordance with the local custom regulations
  • Only baggage accompanied by a passenger may be accepted
  • Cargo (unaccompanied) shall not be allowed in the passenger cabin
  • Dangerous goods must never be accepted as cabin load
  • There is no baggage allowance for tickets issued specifically for cabin baggage

Limitations

  • Maximum weight of any such item is 75 Kg per seat occupied by the item.
  • Maximum length of any such item is 120 cm (48 inches). Items longer than 120cms must be placed across more than one seat
  • A maximum of 3 extra seats can be booked per passenger in addition to the passenger’s own seat depending upon aircraft seat configuration

Charges and Ticketing

  • Charges are based on the number of extra seats required to accommodate the baggage and are collected on separate e-tickets for each seat reserved
  • Extra seats are charged at any available published fare for which inventory is available
  • Changes & refunds are subject to the same rules and conditions of the fare purchased
  • Where access to fares and availability of inventory is not visible then IATA published fares may be charged
  • Taxes are charged only on the passenger’s ticket. No taxes or fuel (YQ) surcharges apply on the CBBG ticket
  • In normal e-ticket for passenger, endorsement to reflect that this is a CBBG case, while e-ticket for CBBG should reflect passenger's name and main ticket number
  • Nil baggage allowance is permitted for CBBG e-ticket
  • Please ensure that type of item, dimensions and weight are mentioned in SSR CBBG
  • Ticket designator (CB) to be reflected next to the Fare Basis code in CBBG e-ticket
  • Issue a ticket covering the carriage of the passenger in the normal manner
  • Issue a second ticket for accompanying baggage according to standard ticketing procedure
  • Once e-tickets are issued, PNR to be sent to your local QR office to ensure that service request for additional CBBG is confirmed
