Oneworld Explorer Fares:
Unlike other round-the-world fares, oneworld Explorer’s price is, uniquely, based on the number of continents a passenger visits (three to six), not the distance he/she flies, making planning and pricing the journey much more simple and flexible. It is available for travel in Economy, Premium Economy (where available), Business or First Class.
Oneworld
Explorer fares give the passenger the flexibility and affordability to
explore more than 850 global destinations across six continents in
the oneworld alliance network; it also let the passengers create an
ideal round-the-world trip.
Utilizing the capacity and reach of the oneworld alliance network, passengers can plan and book their itinerary almost anywhere around the globe and enjoy a seamless round-the-world experience.
Oneworld Explorer Fare Calculation:
The world has been divided into 6 continents to calculate the oneworld Explorer fare.
oneworld Explorer fare is based on the class you choose to fly, plus the number of oneworld continents you visit or pass through, (including your continent of origin and any continent in which you transfer).
- 3-Continent (only offered for travel originating in Asia, Europe/Middle East and North America)
- 4-Continent
- 5-Continent
- 6-Continent
Oneworld Explorer is made up of six individually priced continents as follows:
- Europe/Middle East consists of 2 zones: Europe (including Algeria, Morocco, Russia west of the Urals & Tunisia), Middle East (including Egypt, Libya & Sudan)
- Africa (excluding countries named above)
- Asia (includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan, Russia east of the Urals, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan & Uzbekistan), and the Indian subcontinent (excluding countries named above)
- Australia, New Zealand and the South West Pacific
- North America including the Caribbean, Central America and Panama
- South America
Global Explorer Fares:
With the additional partners included in the offer, Global Explorer fares give the passenger the flexibility to explore even more destinations around the globe. Global Explorer enables the passenger to fly with selected airlines outside the one world alliance, including:
Aer Lingus, Fiji Airways, Bangkok Airways, JetStar Asia. Jetstar Japan, Jetstar Pacific WestJet plus Qantas. Code-share flights operated by Air Tahiti Nui, Jetstar
Global Explorer Fare Calculation:
The Global Explorer fare is based on the total distance travelled throughout the journey, plus the cabin class, and is calculated using the following tier levels:
- Tier 1: Up to 26,000 miles (economy class and Business only)
- Tier 2: Up to 29,000 miles (economy class only)
- Tier 3: Up to 34,000 miles (economy, business or first class)
- Tier 4: Up to 39,000 miles (economy class only)
Global Explorer gives the passenger the possibility to:
- select the route
- plan the stopovers
- choose the travel class
- and change the itinerary
Global Explorer fares are based on the following regions:
*Europe-Middle East (including Algeria, Morocco, Russia west of the Urals, Tunisia, Egypt, Libya & Sudan)
*Africa (which together shall comprise TC2)
*Asia (includes, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia east of the Urals. Tajikistan, Turkmenistan & Uzbekistan)
*South West Pacific (which together shall comprise TC3)
*North America (including Caribbean, Central America and Panama)
*South America (which together shall comprise TC1)
Circle Fares (Multi-continent):
Circle fares are ideal for those travelers who wish to visit multiple continents without actually flying all the way around the world. Fare is available for travel that starts and finishes in:
Circle Pacific: Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada/Mexico/USA, South America.
Circle trip fare calculation:
The Circle fare is based on:
- The country where journey begins and ends.
- The class of travel (First, Business, Economy – for an extra charge Premium Economy can be booked for QF, BA (World Traveler Plus) or on JL – see FQN sur-charge)
- The mileage flown
CIRCLE PACIFIC:
- 22,000 miles
- 26,000 miles
- 29,000 miles
Circle Fares gives the passenger the possibility to:
- select the route, plan the stopovers, choose the travel class and change the itinerary
For the purpose of these fares itineraries are based on the following regions:
Circle Pacific:
- Asia (Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam)
- Southwest Pacific (Australia and New Zealand)
- North America (USA and Canada)
Oneworld Training Academy expanded to cover all alliance fares
Oneworld has expanded its online training resources for travel agents to cover its full suite of fare products. The oneworld Training Academy’s original module, launched two years ago, focusses on the alliance’s market-leading, flagship, continent-based round-the-world fare, oneworld Explorer.
Thousands of travel agents worldwide have already used it to brush up on their round-the-world selling skills.
Now other modules have been added, covering:
- Global Explorer, oneworld's miles-based round-the-world fare that includes flights by some strategic partner airline that are not part of the alliance, extending the range of its network still further.
- Circle Fares, which enable travellers to fly to the other side of the world and then back, without going all the way round the world.

Can a 3-continent fare be purchased if the journey starts in Africa?Three-continent fares are not available when departing from the Southern Hemisphere and Africa due to network connection limitations.
What is the maximal number of stopovers authorized for a oneworld Explorer fare?A total of two stopovers within the continent of origin is permitted in order to get to or from an international gateway.
A maximum of one stopover is permitted in each direction in the country of origin.
What is the maximal number of segments in each continent authorized for a oneworld Explorer fare?After departing from continent of origin, it is allowed to choose up to four segments within each continent (six in North America). Other restrictions may apply.
Can the oneworld explorer trip be planned online?Yes, it is possible to plan a oneworld Explorer round-the-world trip online via the oneworld website (https://rtw.oneworld.com/rtw/).
It can be booked directly with a oneworld member airline or trade partner.

Are open jaws authorized for Global Explorer fares?Yes, origin-destination surface segments are permitted as follows:
- within country of origin
- within the Middle East
- between USA and Canada
- between HKG and China
- between Malaysia and SIN
- within Africa
- between Maldives & Sri Lanka/India
What is the maximal number of stopovers authorized for a Global Explorer fare?For tier 1, the maximal number of stopovers is 5 with no more than 2 in any one region. For other tiers no more than 4 in any one region permitted.
Is it possible to issue a ticket on Qatar Airways stock when the first segment is operated by another airline?Yes, for a Global Explorer fare you can use QR stock even if first segment is operated by another airline.
