Passenger Guidelines - Security Situation - COMMQ157 FAQ's
Please refer to the Passenger Guidelines – Extended Journey with Confidence for details on available rebooking options.
This means that agents may check all QR + OAL rebooking options that are permitted under the original ticketed fare basis. This includes checking:
- Permitted routings and carriers
- Eligible flight numbers and booking classes (RBDs)
Agents should refer to their respective GDS entries and displays to validate these fare rule conditions before rebooking.
Rebooking can be completed using the same fare basis code, even if the new base fare amount differs from the original ticket, as long as the new itinerary fully complies criteria given above.
Please note that options from different fare values cannot be mixed or combined—the selected option must comply with a single, consistent fare rule set.
We have provided an example for your reference in attached documentUpdated
Group bookings follow the same rebooking framework as individual tickets. Please refer to JWC
For partially utilized group tickets, refer to the link below for the attached refund calculation methodology referenced in the guideline.
Agents may continue servicing the booking only if it remains technically editable in their system and changes are within JWC guidelines. If not serviceable, further changes can be handled by Qatar Airways
We seek our trade partners’ support to calculate refunds based on unutilized value. If you are experiencing issues processing refunds (e.g. NDC/system limitations), kindly submit via the Trade Portal refund request form.
For NDC bookings impacted by schedule change or disruption, refunds must be processed via the Trade Portal Refund Request Form.
For this current situation, use the Passenger Guidelines - Security Situation document as the event-specific operational guidelines that applies on top of the evergreen Journey with Confidence (JWC) – COMMQ157V1.0policy.
For all aspects that are not covered under the Passenger Guidelines - Security Situation document, you may refer to the Journey with Confidence (JWC) – COMMQ157V1.0 for applicable guidelines.
For the current situation, the following applies:
- Security Situation – COMMQ157 serves as the event-specific operational guide
- JWC – COMMQ157 acts as the evergreen policy framework for disrupted travel guidelines
The JWC guidelines provides illustrations for out‑of‑sequence travel and reissue limits, helping agents understand how unused segments, reissues, and refunds should be handled following an involuntary disruption

Refunds for Ancillary Services
To support agencies during the recent disruption, Qatar Airways has temporarily enabled direct refund of selected ancillary EMDs in GDSes.
This is a temporary facilitation - standard ancillary refund guidelines remain applicable.
Agents may refund the original ancillary EMD directly in GDS if:
- - The EMD coupon status is OPEN
- - The associated ticket is refunded on or before 30 April 2026, or travel falls between 28 February and 15 September 2026
Batch enablement
- - Tickets cancelled on or before 22 March 2026: Direct EMD refund in GDS has been enabled
- - Tickets cancelled from 23 March 2026 onwards: Refund permissions are being progressively enabled in batches
- - Further updates will be shared on the Trade Portal
If the EMD is not yet enabled for refund, agents may either:
- - Follow the standard ancillary refund process, in line with Passenger Guidelines. or
- - Wait for the next batch update when direct refund permission is enabled in GDSes
Channel‑specific notes
- - GDS‑issued ancillaries: Direct refund in GDS is available as batches are enabled.
- - Ancillaries purchased online (Trade Portal / qatarairways.com): Refunded automatically once the ticket is refunded.
- - NDC bookings: Submitting a ticket refund via the Trade Portal will automatically refund all associated ancillary EMDs.
