Flying from Vienna

Vienna International Airport is the largest air hub in Austria and one of the key European departure and arrival points for international routes. Situated 18km southeast of central Vienna, it is a convenient and modern airport, and passengers flying from Vienna with Qatar Airways will find it to be incredibly clean, efficient and welcoming.

The staff are quietly efficient and focused on delivering a memorable passenger experience, while the modern facilities and amenities make it a pleasant starting point for any journey

Transportation and parking

Transport is, as to be expected, very efficient and clean. The City Airport Train runs to and from the City Air Terminal at Wien Mitte station in central Vienna and takes just 16 minutes. Buses are plentiful, and the Vienna Airport Lines bus takes a direct route from the centre of the city to the airport, with a journey time of just 22 minutes.

Taxis are also very efficient, with two main providers servicing the main hotels and the airport. Your concierge can book in advance for you, or you can hail a cab outside. All cabs are metered and some offer set fares to and from the airport.

There is parking for up to 20,000 vehicles at the airport, with both short and long-term parks available. The long-term multi-storey car parks P3 and P4 are connected to the terminals.

Arriving in Vienna

Passengers flying from Vienna with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 3 Concourse D. This is the newest of the airport’s facilities and is incredibly efficient with plenty of check-in desks and lounge areas for passengers.

Security checks are tight but relatively smooth, so allow around an hour and a half before your flight is due to depart to check in and clear security.

Facilities and amenities

The VIP terminal has its own business centre, and there are no fewer than 10 executive lounges in the Departures area that provide first and business-class travellers with shower facilities, refreshments and work spaces. T

here are around 70 retail outlets selling a selection of luxury goods, perfumes, watches and fashion, as well as travel accessories and Duty Free for passengers travelling outside Europe.

There are a number of cafés, snack bars and restaurants serving international cuisine, fast food and beverages. Disabled access is good, and assistance is available on request.

Arriving in Kuwait

A major trading point since the 1600s, Kuwait is a small but powerful country that plays a key role in the political and commercial success of the region. It is now turning into a popular tourist destination, and welcomes visitors from all over the world. Kuwait is a fascinating country with plenty to see and do.

Book a flight to Kuwait with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover a city and country that has traditional values but a very modern outlook. Its petroleum and oil wealth has led to the development of resorts and luxury hotels, but there are also plenty of older attractions to fascinate and entertain visitors.

Tourist attractions

Failaka Island is just a short boat ride away from Kuwait City, and has a selection of Bronze Age and Greek archaeological sites worth visiting that demonstrate just how important on the Mediterranean trading routes Kuwait was through the ages.

The islands harbour is bustling with dhows, giving you a glimpse of Kuwaiti life outside the modern city.

Back in Kuwait City itself a good place to find traditional crafts and goods is the Al-Mubarakiya shopping district, where you’ll find plenty of souvenirs to remind you of your trip.

Much of Kuwait is flat desert, but just outside the city you’ll find the Kazmah desert cliffs. This is a great location to do a bit of off-road jeep driving, and on a clear day the view from the top of the cliffs stretches out across the bay.

Travel Considerations

Flights to Kuwait with Qatar Airways land at Kuwait International Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure. Before you fly to Kuwait please check the visa and passport requirements.
