The Gaslamp Quarter is a must-see on any trip to San Diego. It is the main entertainment, dining and shopping district of the city and has bags of atmosphere. If you want somewhere with charm and plenty of small independent outlets, this is the place to come.
The harbour setting of Seaport Village makes it ideal for relaxing over a long lunch and watching the working boats and yachts come and go. With multiple waterfront restaurants and numerous specialist shops, it’s a great place to just walk around.
Alternatively, experience a floating city on board USS Midway, a floating museum built into an aircraft carrier. Explore half a century of naval history in this huge ship’s many interactive exhibits.
Last but by no means least, the beaches of San Diego epitomise a way of life here, where locals and visitors alike can live out the Californian dream on sun-soaked golden sands.
Shops and restaurants are close by and many different water sports are always on offer, particularly surfing. Nearby towns of Del Mar, La Jolla, and Encinitas offer a great alternative to downtown and a collection of some of the best beaches in America.
