Flying from Thiruvananthapuram
Trivandrum International Airport serves Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala, and is one of India’s busiest airports. This friendly, efficient departure point is passenger-focused, and the staff spare no effort in making the start of your journey as pleasant as possible.
Passengers flying from Trivandrum with Qatar Airways will find the quiet efficiency and dedication to personal service an absolute pleasure, and the quality of amenities and facilities at the airport are also very good.
Transportation and parking
As it is located just over two miles from the centre of Thiruvananthapuram, it is relatively easy to get to and from the airport. Kerala State Road Transportation bus #14 runs frequently between the city bus terminal at East Fort (near the Padmanabhaswamy Temple) and the airport, taking around 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Tickets are very cheap, but the buses tend to be very crowded and unsuitable if you’re carrying bulky luggage. A better alternative is to hire a taxi or rickshaw. Journey time is approximately 20 minutes, again depending on traffic. There are approximately 1000 car parking spaces, 700 of which are at the international terminal. Spaces fill up quickly.
Arriving at Trivandrum
Passengers flying from Trivandum with Qatar Airways depart from the International Terminal 2. The newly constructed Terminal 3 is directly opposite the main International Terminal 2, so it is important to check which terminal your flight will depart from before you arrive.
However, links are good and gates clearly marked. Allow extra time for security and customs checks, as security at the airport is tight.
Facilities and amenities
Internet access is available throughout the terminal, and although there are no additional conferencing services on offer, the International terminal does have a business lounge.
Various retail outlets offer everything from Duty Free to mobile phones, electrical goods, accessories and gifts, and a food court provides a selection of vendors selling snacks, drinks and more substantial cuisine.
Bank branches and ATM machines are located throughout the terminal. Mother and baby rooms and a medical centre are also located in the terminal, and disabled passengers are well looked after with assistance offered where required.
