Begin in Muscat, where a blend of contemporary style and centuries-old tradition sets the tone for your journey. You’ll be mesmerised by extraordinary diversity as you travel across the country.

Day 1: Muscat

Roam around the country’s elegant capital, home to the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. Here, intricate Islamic art and calligraphy create a sense of calm.

Continue along the Muttrah Corniche, boasting sea views backed by rocky mountains, before visiting the historic twin forts of Al Jalali and Al Mirani. Nearby, the Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace stands out with its distinctive golden columns and blue façade. Finish your day at Muttrah Souq, filled with textiles and jewellery.

Day 2: Jebel Akhdar

Enjoy cool air and dramatic vistas at Jebel Akhdar, known as the Green Mountain, which rises within Oman’s Al Hajar range. This highland region features picturesque landscapes that’ll take your breath away as you uncover the great outdoors.

Hike along well-marked trails that pass terraced farms growing roses, pomegranates, apricots, and walnuts. You can also follow routes such as Wadi Bani Habib to wander through abandoned stone villages and orchards.

Day 3: Wahiba Sands

Wahiba Sands is one of Oman’s most iconic desert landscapes, with 12,500 square km of golden dunes that can be up to 100m high. Bedouin tribes have lived here for centuries and still dwell among the dunes today.

It’s the perfect destination for unleashing your energy by dune bashing in 4x4 vehicles – a challenge for even the most capable of drivers. For a calmer experience, slow things down with a camel ride or camp under the stars to immerse yourself in authentic nomadic life.

Day 4: Sur

Sur is a charming coastal city known for its dhow-building heritage and laid-back lifestyle. Skilled craftsmen continue constructing wooden dhows in traditional shipyards, using techniques passed down through generations.

To deepen your understanding of Sur’s seafaring past, visit the Sur Maritime Museum and unlock fascinating insights on its history and customs. In harmony with its natural surroundings, this city is close to the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve, where endangered green turtles nest along protected beaches.

Day 5: Salalah

Conclude your five-day escape to Oman in Salalah, the lush jewel of the country’s southern coast. Admire its fertile landscapes or coconut-lined beaches. Walk along white sands at Al Mughsail Beach, where powerful blowholes send plumes of seawater high into the air.

Then marvel at the natural beauty of Wadi Darbat, a verdant valley dotted with lakes and waterfalls. To learn about Salalah’s importance as a trading hub, visit the Frankincense Land Museum and see the ruins of Sumhuram Archaeological Park.
