From its many colorful festivals to its majestic temples, as well as its numerous paradise islands, you will be amazed at every turn.
Thailand, a kingdom of festivals, at the heart of traditions and legends
The Procession of the Stars in Sakhon Nakhon Province
In December, the province of Sakon Nakhon in the Northeast celebrates the magic of Christmas in its own way with this unique event in Thailand, blending Christian faith with local traditions. Illuminated floats in the shape of giant stars, symbolizing the Star of Bethlehem, parade in a joyful and colorful atmosphere, accompanied by songs, dances, and handcrafted decorations created by the local Catholic community, a legacy of 19th‑century French missions.
The Illuminated Boat Procession of Nakhon Phanom
Celebrated at the end of Buddhist Lent (October in 2026), it is one of Thailand’s most enchanting festivals: magnificent boats adorned with thousands of lanterns glide along the Mekong at night, transforming the river into a magical spectacle blending spirituality, craftsmanship, and popular devotion.
Nakhon Phanom is a peaceful city on the banks of the Mekong in the northeast of the country, characterized by serenity and surrounded by mountains.
Ubon Ratchathani Candle Festival
This festival takes place in the heart of the city of Ubon Ratchathani in July, during Buddhist Lent. The city becomes the stage for a unique art form: artistic wax sculptures parade on enormous floats. These works depict religious or mythological scenes and are the result of several weeks of work by local artisans. It is an event that is both contemplative and spiritual, symbolizing the beginning of a period of asceticism and intensive meditation for monks.
The water festival (Songkran)
Want to participate in a giant water battle? This festival takes place every year on the occasion of the Thai New Year from 13 to 15 April (fixed), in all regions of the country. From Buddhist traditions, water is poured on the hands to bless or on statues to clean them. In the streets, this event has become a real water fight where everyone splashes one another. The most famous cities to experience Songkran are Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket. Get your buckets and water guns ready: it might get wet!
Thailand, land of sacred temples, between history and serenity
The Wat Arun temple "Temple of Dawn" is named after him because of its shimmering at dawn and dusk, thanks to its colorful porcelain ornaments. It is a must-see when visiting Bangkok, whether for its architecture, history or spirituality. It houses a statue of the Buddha accompanied by many murals illustrating scenes from his life. It is possible to climb the central tower in order to have a panoramic view. Around, the four secondary towers represent the guardians of the four cardinal points.
Wat Phra Kaew (The Temple of the Emerald Buddha)
Wat Phra Kaew or "Temple of the Emerald Buddha" is located in the grounds of the Grand Palace, in Bangkok. Housing a statue of the Emerald Buddha, it is the most sacred temple in Thailand. It is composed of a set of religious buildings of different sizes, dressed with mosaics and gilding, and surrounded by scultpures, all representing historical episodes. Many royal ceremonies take place in this temple, which attests to the strong link between monarchy and religion in Thailand. It is the ideal place to learn while marveling.
Wat Rong Khun (The White Temple)
This is one of the must-see sites in Chiang Rai (not to be confused with Chiang Mai). Renowned for its white color, hence its name Wat Rong Khun, this temple represents the purity of the Buddha. Buddhist ideas are also symbolized as heaven and hell as well as karma and deadly sins. Facing the main building, a bridge crosses a lake strewn with hands reaching towards the sky, symbolizing desire and ambition. On the other side, the Paradise Gate is protected by the judge of souls. Embark on a fascinating spiritual journey.
Wat Muang (the Great Buddha)
Located in Ang Thong, 120km north of Bangkok, this site is worth a round trip and is known for housing the largest statue of the Buddha in the country. 92m high, "The Great Buddha of Thailand" is covered with a golden paint. This place is less touristic and offers a more introspective and soothing experience. Inside the temple, you will find a majestic hall of mirrors from walls to ceiling. Outside, a vast garden adorned with statues and mythological scenes invites contemplation.
Between white sand and crystal clear waters, the Thai islands invite you to escape
Located in the southern region of the country, Ko Samui is an island about 700 km from Bangkok and can be reached by plane or ferry. Ko Samui is renowned for its paradisiacal beaches and tropical landscapes. The climate is warm throughout the year, ideal for basking in the sun or kayaking. On this island you will find a wide selection of luxury resorts, private villas, bars, night markets and restaurants.
Ko Phi Phi
Ko Phi Phi is the country’s iconic archipelago, located between Phuket and Krabi. Composed of several islands, Ko Phi Phi is only accessible by boat. This is the ideal place to go diving in crystal clear waters that range from turquoise to emerald. Do not miss the famous beach of Maya Bay, known thanks to the movie The Beach, and the different panoramas where you can take sublime photos. You can even see monkeys on the cliffs at Monkey Beach. Join this little paradise and don’t forget your sunglasses!
Ko Pha Ngan
Another dream island awaits you, also located in the Gulf of Thailand. It is accessible from Ko Samui or from the mainland by ferry. The area covers about 168 km2 and is a paradise for scooter rides, which you can easily rent on site, and hiking. Many hotels and resorts are located there, allowing you to explore the island over several days. Thongsala, the main hub where the port is located, has a wide selection of shops and restaurants.

Ko Tao is located in the Gulf of Thailand and can be easily reached by ferry from Surat Thani or Ko Samui. It is a tropical paradise known for its crystal clear waters and coral reefs. Famous worldwide for scuba diving and snorkeling, this small Thai island offers beautiful beaches and breathtaking sunsets. The atmosphere is chill, between beach bars and cafes. You'll find a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation.
