Flying from Larnaca

Located in eastern Cyprus, Larnaca International Airport is the larger of the island’s two main departure and arrival points. Popular with tourists and business travellers alike, it is located 2.5 miles southwest of the city, making it extremely convenient and reducing transfer times to resorts in the east of the island. Passengers flying from Larnaca with Qatar Airways will find this relatively small but very friendly airport to be extremely efficient, with all of the facilities you would expect from an international airport combined with a warm Cypriot welcome to make the start of your journey as pleasant as possible.

Transportation and parking

The easiest way to travel from Larnaca to the airport is by taxi. These are available 24 hours a day and the journey time is approximately 15 minutes. Allow an extra 10-15 minutes during peak travel times, especially at weekends. Shuttle services to and from the airport are provided by Kapnos Airport Shuttle and Limassol Airport Express, with mini-bus transport available, which is particularly useful if you are travelling in a larger party. The main car park and newly upgraded terminal car park area are located in front of the terminal building. There is capacity for up to 2,450 cars for both short and long-term stays

Arriving in Larnaca

Passengers flying from Larnaca with Qatar Airways depart from the main terminal. The terminal has recently undergone a series of upgrades and despite its compact size is very free flowing and easy to navigate. There are now 16 boarding bridges, 67 check in counters, 8 self check-in kiosks and 48 departure gates. Allow at least two hours before your flight is due to depart to check in and to clear security checks.

Facilities and amenities

Despite its relatively compact size for an international airport, Larnaca is well equipped with excellent facilities and amenities to make the start of your journey more comfortable. Recent upgrades mean that the public lounges are well appointed, spacious and comfortable and include a parent and baby changing room. Free Wi-Fi is available in designated areas, and a well stocked retail court sells accessories, Duty free, luxury goods and some local products. Food and drink vendors offer everything from local delicacies, tea and coffee through to more substantial meals.

Arriving in Sydney

Despite what most people think, Sydney is not actually Australia’s capital, but is probably its most iconic and instantly recognisable one, thanks to exceptional monuments such as the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

Modern, thriving and continually expanding, Sydney is the powerhouse of Australia and one of the most vibrant cities on the Pacific Rim.

Book a flight to Sydney with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover that it’s also a centre for the arts, music and theatre, with an incredibly relaxed and laid-back atmosphere for such a large metropolis.

Warm and friendly people welcome visitors with open arms, and its business sector is innovative and progressive, making it an excellent destination for business travellers too.

Tourist attractions

Top of the list has to be the Sydney Opera House. It sits on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

It is in fact a collection of venues that host 1,500 performances every year, attracting over a million visitors from around the world. From opera to modern dance, theatre to mime, this is the cultural heart of the city.

Many of the city’s landmarks are clustered around the harbour, and an excellent and very relaxing way to see them is to take a ferry east from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo or Manly, or west under the Harbour Bridge towards Parramatta.

This will also give you a great view of the harbour itself.

The city is famous for its museums, and visitors can choose from the Australian Museum, which has extensive exhibits covering Australia’s unique flora and fauna, through to the interactive Powerhouse Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

To find out more about Australia’s First Nation people, head to the Royal National Park where you’ll find Aboriginal rock carvings, or take a guided interpretative walk at Berry Island.
