Flying from Kuala Lumpur

Opened in 1998, Kuala Lumpur International Airport has quickly gained a reputation as an efficient, friendly and pleasant start to any international journey.

The airport was voted to have the World’s Best Immigration Service in the 2013 Skytrax World Airport Awards. Qatar Airways flights from Kuala Lumpur connect to destinations all over the world, making this an important international hub and a key part of our network of departure points in the Asia-Pacific region.

Transportation and parking

Kuala Lumpur International Airport has an extensive network of ground transport options, including various bus routes to and from the capital, around the airport itself.

A choice of train options are also available, with non-stop KLIA Ekspres trains running every 15-20 minutes, while KLIA Transit trains also provide a regular service. Note that tickets are not interchangeable between the two services. There are two main car parks offering 11,442 spaces, with a long-term parking lot located at Block A.

Arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport

International flights, including those with Qatar Airways, depart from the main Terminal (the smaller, older KLIA2 is used mainly for internal flights).

There is a variety of check-in methods available for passengers, including an online service and an advance baggage check-in, where you can check your bags up to eight hours in advance of your flight. The Plaza Premium Lounge is open to all customers, and there are also private lounges that can be rented by the hour.

Facilities and amenities

Kuala Lumpur International Airport has plenty of facilities to offer, including baby-changing areas, quiet rooms, prayer rooms and a massage centre to help passengers relax.

A number of retail outlets provide travel essentials, as well as high-end luxury goods and duty-free purchases. A choice of restaurants, eateries and cafés provide everything from light snacks and drinks to more substantial meals.

Arriving in Sanaa

One of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, Sana'a is believed to have been founded by Shem, the son of Noah.

As a result, the city has the nickname of "Sam City" and is an eclectic mix of ancient and modern side by side. It is a destination that is well off the usual tourist trail and is suitable for more adventurous travellers and those who have business in the city’s busy commercial and financial sector.

Book a flight to Sana’a with Qatar Airways and you’ll have the chance to explore a fascinating city that is relatively untouched by the usual tourist trappings that many other destinations suffer from.

From one of the oldest mosques in the world to some of the most modern and high-tech buildings, this is a city of contrasts built on traditional values and modern, forward-thinking progress.

Tourist attractions

The heart of Sana'a is it’s Old City, which is listed as a World Heritage site and of international importance.

The unique Yemeni style of architecture - multiple-storey tower houses with the distinctive qamariya windows – dominates the skyline, and in the Old City limits you’ll find one of the largest and busiest souks in the Arabian Peninsula, the Souk al-Milh.

The city is home to the Great Mosque of Sana'a, which is one of the oldest mosques in the world and a hugely important location in Islam.

It is believed that the oldest-known written copy of the Quran was found here, making it a place of pilgrimage for thousands of devotees. Another huge mosque, the Al Saleeh Mosque, is located close to the Presidential Palace.

To find out more about the ancient way of life in Oman, a trip to the hidden village of Thilaa is well worth the journey, while a trip to the National Museum will give you a good insight into the history and culture of the Peninsula.

Travel Considerations

Flights to Sana’a with Qatar Airways land at Sana'a International Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure.

Before you fly to Sana’a please check the visa and passport requirements.
