Your journey begins at Velana International Airport (MLE), the gateway to the Maldives and a remarkably beautiful departure point surrounded by brilliant blue water. Enjoy a comfortable travel experience at this easy-to-navigate international hub.
Getting to the airport involves travelling on water since it's located on its own island, without land connections to Malé city. Speedboats are the most common mode of transport, alongside local water taxis known as dhonis, which bring you directly to the terminal. You can also take a transfer by seaplane.
Once inside the terminal, you'll find several facilities to explore before your flight. You can relax in the lounge area or browse retail outlets for any last-minute purchases. Shop local goods, luxury accessories, perfume and jewellery. Stay connected using the complimentary internet kiosks situated in the duty-free area, near gates 1, 2 and 3. You can easily find the prayer room inside the terminal, or access one of the two mosques just five minutes’ walk from the airport.
Larnaca is a captivating destination that effortlessly blends thousands of years of history with a modern, coastal atmosphere. You'll be warmly welcomed to this Mediterranean city, offering plenty to explore.
Take a relaxing stroll along the Finikoudes promenade, lined with palm trees. Unwind on its golden sands or visit Mackenzie Beach, known for its clear waters. For a glimpse into the past, visit the imposing Larnaca Fort, an Ottoman structure now housing a museum with fascinating archaeological artefacts. You can also stop by the Pierides Museum, showcasing an impressive collection spanning over five thousand years of Cypriot history.
The city also boasts unique natural and cultural landmarks. Near the Larnaca Salt Lake, you'll find the tranquil Hala Sultan Tekke mosque, a significant place of pilgrimage. It's also incredibly beautiful during the winter months, when the lake attracts migratory flamingos, creating a colourful natural spectacle that should not be missed. Continue exploring with a visit to the ruins of Kition, an ancient port city that thrived over three thousand years ago.
