The magnificent Museum of Islamic Art is a real jewel, and the Corniche promenade is also a must-see during your stay in Doha.
Flying from Ta’if
Although named Ta’if Regional Airport, this key Saudi transport hub actually serves a number of international destinations too, making it an important and busy airport within the Gulf network.
Located 30km from Ta’if and 70km from Mecca, it is also an important gateway point during the Hajj season. Customers flying from Ta’if with Qatar Airways will find this small but incredibly efficient airport to be an excellent starting point for any journey.
Transportation and parking
Some buses do run to and from the airport from Ta’if, but the main transport link to the airport is by a pre-booked taxi. Your hotel concierge will be able to order your taxi for you – journey time from Ta’if to the airport is around 50-60 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. Limousine services are also available for VIP guests. Because of its limited size, parking is very restricted and is primarily designed for drop-off and pick-up only. It is therefore advisable to make alternative arrangements if you are leaving your car in Saudi Arabia while you travel abroad.
At the airport
Customers flying from Ta’if with Qatar Airways depart from the main terminal’s Departures lounge. Check-in desks are extremely efficient and quick, but security in the airport is exceptionally tight and comprehensive checks are made on all passengers before embarkation. Be prepared for some delays, which can be considerable during the Hajj season, when the number of passengers flying into and out of the airport increases.
Facilities and amenities
First class and Business class passengers have their own exclusive lounge area with Wi-Fi and other business facilities. The main departure lounge is spacious and well laid out, with good facilities for both men and women. Discreet baby-changing areas are available. Vendors provide a selection of beverages and light snacks, and there are limited retail outlets selling accessories and travel goods.
