The following information will help you determine the number and weight of baggage pieces you are allowed to carry during your journey with Qatar Airways.
Baggage allowances may vary according to route and cabin class; please check the exact baggage regulations printed on your ticket.
For routes where the weight concept apply, there is no limit on the number of pieces that can be checked in as long as the weight allowance for the total number of pieces is not exceeded. However, limitations may apply based on aircraft carrying capacity.
Baggage allowance may vary depending on flight and booking class. You can find the number of pieces and weight allowed for your journey when you select your flights on qatarairways.com, as well as on your ticket prior to travel.
Baggage allowance on code-share and interline journeys
Does your journey include travel on an airline other than Qatar Airways (including Qatar Airways code-share flights such as those of Cathay Pacific)? If so, that airline may offer you a lower baggage allowance. Baggage allowances on code-share routes are determined by IATA's Most Significant Marketing Carrier (MSC) rule.
Where a code-share or interline flight is part of an itinerary that begins or ends in the U.S.A. or Canada, baggage allowances and charges applicable at the itinerary’s origin will apply throughout.
If you are booking a journey that includes a code-share flight with another carrier, please contact us to confirm your baggage allowance.
Contact usIn addition to the regular checked-in baggage allowance you may carry, you may also bring along hand baggage on board the cabin during your Qatar Airways flight:
- First Class and Business Class customers are allowed to carry two pieces of baggage on board, not to exceed a total weight of 15kg (33lb)
- Economy Class customers are allowed to carry one piece of baggage, not to exceed 7kg (15lb)
For tickets issued in Brazil, Economy Class customers on flights to or from Brazil are allowed to carry one piece of baggage, not to exceed 10 kg (22lb)
Liquids and gels in hand baggage
You may carry liquids, gels, pastes and aerosols in containers up to 100ml (3.4oz) in your hand baggage. Containers larger than 100ml cannot be accepted even if only partly filled. Your containers should be carried in a transparent, resealable, quart- or litre-sized bag no larger than 20x20cm (8x8in). Please ensure all items fit comfortably in the plastic bag.
Airport security will ask you to produce your transparent bag of liquids separately for screening. There are no restrictions on baby foods and medication. However, you may be required to present a prescription for medication you want to take onboard.
Security check for personal electronic devices (UK and USA)
Passengers on UK and USA-bound Qatar Airways flights departing or transiting from Hamad International Airport with personal electronic devices must adhere to the following instructions.
UK-bound flights
- You may be asked by security staff to turn on personal electronic devices that are larger than a mobile phone, including tablets, e-books and laptops during the security screening conducted at the boarding gate.
- Ensure your electronic device(s) has sufficient power to be switched on to demonstrate its functionality. Make sure you do not deplete power in your devices as charging points at the airport might be limited and you may require an adapter.
- Devices without any power will be placed in a secure location on the aircraft that cannot be accessed, and returned at the final destination.
- If more than six personal electronic individual devices are already secured, then you will have to check-in your device into your hand baggage, which will be stored in the aircraft hold.
- If you are unable to check-in your hand baggage with the device or do not have a hand baggage, then your item will need to be deposited with Lost and Found. You will then be required to make a claim on the airline website and collect the item from the airport on your return.
USA-bound flights
- With immediate effect, all personal electronic devices carried on board all USA-bound flights from Doha, are subject to enhanced security screening.
- Ensure your electronic device(s) has sufficient power to be switched on to demonstrate its functionality. Make sure you do not deplete power in your devices as charging points at the airport might be limited and you may require an adapter.
- Consider packing all personal electronic devices that you do not intend to use in-flight into your check-in baggage.
- Examples of personal electronic devices that are subject to enhanced security screening include: DSLR camera | Radio | E-reader | Walkie-talkie | Laptop | Tablet | Water purifier | Large game console | Monitor| CD-ROM | Drone | Electric guitar | Printer and scanner
Additional security measures for international flights to or from the USA
