Cordless hair straighteners and flat iron devices containing lithium batteries and gases to/from, or via, the United States of America are now prohibited in checked baggage: TSA Restrictions.
Cordless hair straighteners that contain lithium metal or lithium ion batteries or are gas or butane fuelled are only allowed in carry-on bags.
The device must be protected from accidental activation and safety cover must be securely fitted over the heating element.
Gas refills (spare cartridges) are prohibited for air transport.

Please be advised that, effective 12 October 2025, the European Union will gradually introduce a new Entry/Exit System (EES). This change will apply to the non-Schengen nationals entry and exit procedures at Schengen Area borders.

According to a communique received from Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea, following restrictions are imposed with immediate effect, on “curling irons” with inseparable integrated batteries.
- If the battery is integrated and unable to remove, such curling irons are not allowed in checked or carry-on baggage.

- Such curling irons can be placed on “flight-mode” by the user. When in “flight mode”, they are acceptable in carry-on baggage, with the approval from the airline.
Your safety is our priority. Power banks, e-cigarettes and vapes have the potential to overheat, emit fumes and smoke or self-ignite and catch fire.
If you want to carry these items, never place them in your checked-in baggage. Only carry them with you inside the aircraft cabin by following the requirements below:
- Do not charge your power banks, e-cigarettes or vapes on board the aircraft.
- Do not move the seat if you drop a device in your seat. Inform cabin crew immediately.
- Do not travel with any lithium battery powered equipment or power banks, that have damaged batteries, or have been recalled by authorities/manufacturers due to safety reasons. This includes using damaged or faulty cables onboard.
- Use in-seat USB ports or sockets where available, to charge your portable electronic devices (excluding power banks, e-cigarettes and vapes).
- Keep the power bank in view, if using it to charge other allowed electronic devices. (Do not stow them in your carry-on bag or in the overhead bins while charging these other devices).
- Keep devices containing lithium batteries and loose batteries away from flammable items such as perfumes when placed inside your carry-on bag.
- Inform staff immediately should your device overheat, emit smoke/fumes or catches fire.
- Always apply safety caps or cover air vents on e-cigarettes or vapes to prevent accidental activation.
