DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways, the official airline sponsor, and Qatar Duty Free (QDF), the official retail sponsor of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2015, congratulate David Ferrer, winner of the annual men’s international tennis tournament held at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
Reprising its position as the official airline partner of the tournament, Qatar Airways has had the privilege to bring several of the top names in tennis to Doha – and this year was no exception.
David Ferrer (the tournament champion), Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Tomas Berdych were all among the star players at this year’s Open (January 5-10) enticing thousands of spectators to watch as they competed for the prestigious title in the Qatari capital. The Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2015 is part of the ATP World Tour – and the first competitive tournament of the 2015 season.
As part of Qatar Airways sponsorship, this year the airline invited spectators to visit its pavilion at the event where they were offered the opportunity to have their photograph taken against a choice of backdrops (the Doha skyline, the Airbus A350 XWB or the Airbus A380) and then given a print of the photograph as a gift from the five-star airline.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said: “Qatar Airways was proud to continue in its role as a key sponsor of this internationally renowned sporting event, bringing these world-class players to Qatar for another season of dynamic tennis, and this year’s tournament was just as thrilling.
“As the event goes from strength to strength, we are delighted to continue our support, and enable tennis fans to enjoy this great sporting spectacle.”
Qatar Duty Free also had a dedicated pavilion conveniently located at the public village within the complex, where it showcased a wide range of items for sale including apparel, bags, jewellery, sunglasses, confectionery, souvenirs and electronics at duty free prices. Customers who purchased goods worth QR350 or more received a complimentary gift courtesy of Qatar Duty Free.
“Qatar Duty Free was once again very excited to be part of this prestigious sporting event, as we welcomed the world’s leading players on the men’s circuit to battle it out with some entertaining tennis,” said Qatar Duty Free Senior Vice President, Keith Hunter. “This highly-anticipated tournament always brings in tennis fans from Qatar and overseas, and is a highlight on the Qatar Duty Free annual calendar of events. We were delighted to provide fans and our customers with a unique opportunity to purchase great products at fantastic prices that they would usually only get when shopping at Qatar Duty Free in Hamad International Airport,” he added.
This year’s men’s final was won by David Ferrer who beat Tomas Berdych in the final on Saturday evening.
