QATAR AIRWAYS WINS “BEST STAND” AWARD DURING MAGICAL KENYA TRAVEL EXPO

NAIROBI, Kenya – Qatar Airways, the national carrier of the State of Qatar,  recently partnered with the Kenyan Tourism Board to sponsor the third edition of Magical Kenya Travel Expo. Held from the 18th to 20th of October 2013 at the Kenya International Conference Center (KICC) in Nairobi, the exhibition was attended by His Excellency, President of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta.


Winning the “Best Stand” Award, the airline showcased its Boeing 787 Business Class seat for the first time in Africa with key features such as the  award-winning iTouch  control unit with over 1,000 movies, programming and audio interactive on-demand entertainment options, an iPort, USB port, remote data outlet, plenty of storage space for personal items and more.


More than 170 international travel agents, tour operators participated in this year’s Magical Kenya Travel Expo.  The exhibition provided a networking platform for the Kenyan and international trade, hence strengthening their marketing efforts and strategies.


The exhibition was aimed at showcasing Kenya as a world class tourism destination to top international trade. Since launching the Nairobi – Doha route in 2005, Qatar Airways has seen a significant increase in both tourism and business travel, hence the need to increase frequency in September this year.


Qatar Airways flies 18 times a week to the Kenyan capital of Nairobi direct from its hub in Doha, Qatar.

Over the next few months, the network will grow further with Sharjah and Dubai World Central in the UAE (March 1, 2014), Philadelphia, USA (April 2, 2014) and Miami, USA (June 10, 2014).
