DOHA - Sheraton Doha Hotel and Resort and Qatar Airways, in association with the Austrian National Tourist Office, launched Austrian Festival today – a 5-day-long festival of Austrian food, music, and entertainment.
The Say Hello to Austria, Experience Salzburg and Vienna festival will take place at the Sheraton Hotel and Resort from March 26-30.
The festival will include an array of activities such as an Austrian food promotion, Viennese Café, traditional Austrian music, handicrafts, holiday information about Vienna and Salzburg and a live performance of the world renowned musical The Sound of Music.
Officially launching Austrian Week, the Sheraton Hotel and Resort’s General Manager Mr Gerhard Foltin and Qatar Airways’ Area Manager Qatar Mr Ehab Amin said the festival promised to bring a real taste of Austria to Doha.
“The Austrian festival will give people a wonderful experience of Austria. There’s a great program of events and activities that culminate in a live performance of the Sound of Music,” said Mr Foltin.
“Qatar Airways now flies five times a week to Vienna and this festival is a marvellous introduction to Vienna and Austria,” said Mr Amin.
The program for the event includes:
- The Sound of Music on March 30, in the Al Majlis Hall. Tickets are available from the events desk in the Sheraton lobby.
- Austrian buffet every evening from March 26 to 30. Two chefs from Vienna’s Imperial Hotel will prepare traditional Viennese dishes including: Goulash, Wiener Schnitzel, Tafelspitz, and Kaiserschmarrn dumplings. Qatar Airways is offering tickets to two people who attend the buffet.
- A Viennese café set up in the Sheraton Hotel’s Atrium which will offer tasty Austrian treats like: Apfelstrudel, Sachertorte, Topfen, Palachinken, Kaiserschmarrn, and the famous Imperial Cake. There will also be many different types of Viennese coffees, including: Einspanner, Kapuziner and Wiener Melange.
- There will be special show booths in the Sheraton lobby that will present authentic quality Austrian products – Augarten, Golden Genius, Lobmeyr, and Susanne Kitz.
- Holiday information from the Austrian National Tourist Board, Vienna Tourism Board and Salzburg Tourism Board.
