Operational updates to Qatar Airways services and travel alerts


Under the instructions of the Qatar Government, entry into Qatar is currently only allowed for:

  • Qatari nationals
  • The children and spouses of Qatari citizens
  • Permanent resident permit holders
  • Regular resident permit holders currently in the State of Qatar will automatically receive an exceptional entry permit upon departure.

Effective 25 April 2021, all passengers travelling to Qatar as their final destination need to present a negative COVID-19 PCR taken within 72 hours prior to their scheduled arrival time in Doha.


Effective 29 April 2021, passengers arriving or transiting in Qatar who have been in or transited through India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines need to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to their scheduled departure time from these countries.  


Effective 05 June 2021, passengers arriving or transiting in Qatar who have been in or transited through Vietnam need to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours prior to their scheduled departure time from these countries.  

  • Passengers travelling to Qatar who have been in or transited through   India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Vietnam in the previous 14 days must undergo 10 days quarantine in a dedicated quarantine facility, or 14 days if quarantine is at Mekhaines facility regardless of previous vaccination or immunity against COVID-19.

All Passengers must take the test at a medical centre approved to conduct a PCR test for COVID-19 by the respective health authorities at the country of origin.

Travellers transiting Qatar with onward international flights to another country should conform to the entry requirements of any other intermediate transit point and their final destination. 

Passengers who fail to comply with these requirements will not be permitted to board their flight with Qatar Airways. 


There are changes to entry restrictions for certain travellers to Qatar effective immediately.

GCC nationals and those accompanying them arriving in Qatar will be exempt from quarantine if they have received a full dose of one of the vaccines recognised by the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar more than 14 days prior to their arrival.

These travellers will need to present an official, stamped vaccination card or  vaccination certificate indicating the type of vaccine received, date of vaccination of each dose and should preferably include the lot number in order to qualify for the exemption.

They will also need to have taken a PCR test at an establishment recognised by the local authorities and received a negative result no more than 72 hours prior to their scheduled time of arrival in Qatar.

These rules apply to all travellers who are nationals of GCC countries and those accompanying them, including children. Travellers not meeting these criteria will need to undergo a seven-day hotel quarantine booked through Discover Qatar.

Vaccinated parents meeting the exemption requirements, but arriving in Qatar with children up to 18 years of age who are not vaccinated will also need to quarantine with them, or in the case of two vaccinated parents travelling with unvaccinated children, one parent will be required to undergo hotel quarantine with the children. During the quarantine period, the parents cannot exchange their roles on who will be accompanied with the children.

  • Please note that any GCC citizen and their accompanying family/staff traveling *from* one of the six high-risk countries will be subject to hotel quarantine regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination or health status.
