Shahjalal International Airport is Bangladesh’s largest air hub, welcoming millions of passengers annually. As you prepare for your flight from Dhaka, ensure a smooth departure by planning your journey to the airport. The most convenient way to reach the International Terminal, located on the upper floor, is via an official, metered taxi, which your hotel concierge can arrange. Although an airport shuttle bus operates from the city centre, it can be crowded if you have significant luggage. Private hire vehicles and limited parking in the multi-storey car park for 500 vehicles are also available options.
Security is very tight, so allow at least two hours before your flight to check in and clear all checks. Once airside, you will find adequate facilities, including a comfortable VIP lounge for Business and First Class travellers. You can grab light snacks, fast food, or local specialities at the handful of restaurants, or perhaps pick up a gift at the Duty Free shop. For your convenience, currency exchange, ATM facilities and a post office are also available, and Wi-Fi access is offered in some areas of the airport.
Discover Shiraz, a city with an ancient past and dynamic, modern outlook. The capital of Fars province, it's filled with lush green spaces, and known as the birthplace of the revered Persian poets Hafiz and Saadi.
Wander through the intricate network of the beautiful Eram Garden, to admire its decorated palace and artificial rivers. Look for the stunning Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, which is famous for the coloured glass that turns its interior into a dazzling kaleidoscope of light.
To immerse yourself in local culture, browse the Vakil Bazaar. You can easily spend hours exploring this historic maze of courtyards and shops to find exquisite Persian rugs, fragrant spices, and high-quality copper handicrafts.
