Entebbe International Airport, located near Lake Victoria and 40 kilometres from Kampala, serves as Uganda’s primary air transport gateway. As you prepare for your journey, you will find this airport, while compact, is efficiently organised to ensure a smooth departure experience.
Getting to the airport is simplest via a hire car or taxi. If travelling from Kampala, we recommend arranging your taxi in advance through your hotel concierge to secure an official, metered vehicle. Airport transfer services are also available and can be pre-booked. Limited but high-demand parking is available if you choose to drive yourself. Local buses run from Entebbe town, but they can be infrequent and crowded.
You should arrive at least two hours before your scheduled flight boarding time. Departures are handled through the main terminal. Please be aware that security checks are thorough, and baggage searches may take some time, so ensure all your travel paperwork is ready beforehand.
The airport provides adequate facilities for your needs. You can browse the Duty Free shops for a range of goods, and vendors offer travel essentials, books, magazines and drinks. For a snack, several food outlets are available. Look for mother-and-baby changing areas and take advantage of the VIP lounge if you are travelling business or first class, offering you comfortable seating and Wi-Fi access in certain parts of the terminal.
Multan, often called the 'City of Saints,' is one of Asia’s most ancient cities, celebrated for its deep cultural roots and spiritual significance. Although the city has a history spanning millennia, it also exudes a modern, bustling energy.
Begin by exploring the historical Multan Fort, boasting panoramic views from Damdama, its highest point. You can also delve into Multan's rich Sufi past by visiting the iconic Mausoleum of Shah Rukn-e-Alam, known for its magnificent dome and striking blue tilework. The nearby Tomb of Bahauddin Zakariya is another masterpiece of the Multani architectural style.
For a taste of local life, immerse yourself in the vibrant and colourful atmosphere of the centuries-old Hussain Agahi market. Here, you can shop for famous Multani handicrafts, from blue pottery to intricately woven textiles. Don't forget to sample the renowned local delicacy, Sohan Halwa, as a sweet ending to your trip.
