Doha, QATAR – Qatar Airways today announced a reduction in the fuel surcharge on flights in its international network offering passengers great savings.
Passengers purchasing tickets to and from destinations served by the Doha-based airline will be able to take advantage of the new lower supplements.
The decrease in the fuel surcharge on short- and long-haul services in the airline’s global network follows an earlier reduction implemented by the airline in December on tickets for one-way and return flights from Doha , the carriers’ hub.
The move reflects the return to stability in oil prices over the past few months following an unprecedented surge during 2008.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said: “Qatar Airways’ fuel surcharges have been significantly lower than those of other airlines. We have absorbed a large percentage of the increase in fuel prices in the past, passing very little onto the consumer.“
“In response to the recent reduction in oil and jet fuel prices, we are now pleased to lower the fuel surcharge substantially in our network, which demonstrates our commitment to the travelling public by offering highly competitive prices.”
Qatar Airways continually monitors oil prices and will ensure future adjustments to the fuel surcharge are made dependent on market trends.
