Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport offers a pleasant and efficient start to your journey, blending modern convenience with traditional Iranian hospitality. This busy air hub is located approximately 30km south of Tehran and is currently undergoing substantial redevelopment, including plans for a new airport hotel and a Tehran metro extension.
To reach the airport, taxis and hire cars are the primary transport options. The taxi journey time is around 90 minutes, depending on traffic. Shuttle buses connect the airport to the nearest metro station and Mehrabad International Airport. If you are driving, follow the Tehran-Qom Freeway (Route 7). Short-term parking is available next to the terminal, and a regular free shuttle runs from the long-term car parks (2 and 3).
Once inside, you will find the well-laid out Terminal 1 easy to navigate. Free Wi-Fi is available in the Departure lounge. Banks and currency exchange facilities are on hand, but remember credit cards are not widely accepted in Iran. Retail outlets sell locally-produced Iranian goods, and a duty-free shop is available. Before boarding, why not try a selection of traditional Persian dishes, coffee or light snacks at the popular restaurant?
Discover Bali’s captivating capital, where you can immerse yourself in the rich culture of everyday local life. Wander between Denpasar's striking landmarks to enjoy meaningful experiences shaped by the city's art, history and warm island spirit. You’ll step into a destination that blends tradition and modern flair, giving you a refreshing look beyond the island’s beach resorts.
Start your journey in Alun-Alun Puputan, a lively central square marked by an impressive statue with four faces, each pointing in a different cardinal direction on the compass. Then roam around nearby streets filled with markets where you'll find handicrafts and delicacies boasting authentic flavours. Denpasar is also dotted with remarkable temples for you to explore, including the Palace of Satria and the Royal Temples. The ornate Pura Maospahit, believed to date back to the 13th century, is known for its distinctive red-brick architecture.
To learn more about the island’s heritage, visit the Bali Museum, home to beautifully crafted artefacts showcased across four pavilions. Each section houses different types of displays highlighting Balinese history, from ancient stone and bronze pieces to intricate textiles and traditional performance art. Afterwards, head to the expansive Puputan Renon park and admire the iconic Bajra Sandhi monument, commemorating Bali’s story through powerful, detailed carvings.
