Parks and Green Spaces

Doha’s parks offer calm, open spaces where you can reconnect with nature during the cooler months. Al Bidda Park is a favourite for families, with cultural sites, playgrounds and plenty of room to relax. Aspire Park is Doha’s largest, hosting seasonal events and outdoor activities.

At Oxygen Park, you can enjoy fitness trails and peaceful evening walks, while Katara Hills Park invites you to stroll up its gentle slopes for views across Katara Beach.

In the city, festive theme parks burst with seasonal magic. Lusail Winter Wonderland on Al Maha Island runs from October to February, with colourful rides, live shows and attractions for your little ones to experience.

Hot Air Balloon Rides

Qatar is becoming one of the world’s most exciting destinations for hot air ballooning. Winter brings clear skies and gentle breezes – the perfect setting for dawn flights over the desert. As you rise above the dunes, the serenity and panoramic views offer an extraordinary experience.

In December, the Qatar Balloon Festival adds even more spectacle, as global teams take to the sky and evening nightglow shows play with light and music.

Water Sports

Take to the water at one of the country’s inviting beaches, as the sweet weather gives you a perfect opportunity to paddle and swim. For a more active experience, winter winds create ideal conditions for kitesurfing, making Qatar a popular spot for the sport.

If you prefer something more gentle, explore quiet coves by kayak or paddleboard. For a truly serene escape, glide through the Al Thakira Mangroves near Al Khor, where idyllic waterways reveal rare birdlife, flamingos and centuries-old grey mangrove trees.

Explore the Desert

There’s no better time to explore Qatar’s desert landscapes than winter. Join a 4x4 safari in the Sealine area, where expert drivers take you across rolling dunes and towards some of the country’s highest sand peaks.

Visit Al Shahaniya to see camel racing, then unwind with a picnic on Umm Bab Beach. For a deeper connection to Qatar’s heritage, spend a night under the stars in the Al Udaid Desert and experience traditional Bedouin-style camping.
