QATAR AIRWAYS ADDS THIRD DAILY A380 SERVICE TO POPULAR DOHA-BANGKOK ROUTE

DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways will be adding a third daily A380 service to its Doha-Bangkok route from October 25, in response to ever-increasing travel demand to and from the Thai capital.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Bangkok remains one of the most popular destinations in our network – be it for leisure or business. Demand for travel to the Thai capital has shown steady growth in the number of passengers over this past year and we have been gradually increasing our capacity on this route since its debut in 1996. We believe inbound tourist figures will remain strong, with the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s recent push to promote Thailand to international audiences.

“Additionally, the number of Thai passengers who travel with Qatar Airways to other global destinations has also increased and so we are delighted to introduce our third daily A380 service on this route. Now even more passengers will be able to enjoy our five-star service and connect seamlessly and quickly to popular cities in Europe and the United States.”

Qatar Airways first started flying the A380 aircraft on the Doha-Bangkok route on December 5, 2014. Bangkok is one of only three cities Qatar Airways has elected to fly the flagship A380 aircraft on, the others being London and Paris.

In just under 12 months, the Doha-based carrier will be tripling its A380 operations on this route. Earlier this year, the airline had announced its second daily A380 service on the Doha-Bangkok route would start operating from September 16, 2015.

Currently, Qatar Airways flies four times daily between Bangkok and Doha. The introduction of the two additional superjumbo services to Bangkok will increase its capacity to an average of 1,892 seats per day, up from 1,657 seats previously.

The additional A380 aircraft to Bangkok will be operating on flights QR 832/837, complementing the existing A380 service on flights QR836/QR833 and the soon-to-be-launched A380 service on QR830/QR831 (effective 16 September 2015).

The bespoke Qatar Airways A380 aircraft features just eight exclusive seats in the First Class cabin, providing passengers ultra-wide seats and their own personal luxurious haven in the sky. The Business Class cabin features 48 seats on the upper deck in a 1-2-1 configuration, each with an 80” fully flat bed, 17” HD in-flight entertainment screen and direct aisle access. The Economy Class occupies the entire main deck of the aircraft and a small section in the rear of the upper deck. The upper deck features 56 seats in a 2-4-2 configuration, while on the main deck, there are 405 seats in a 3-4-3 layout. The on-board experience is enhanced with 10.6-inch entertainment screens and 18.5 inch-wide seats.

Customers travelling on any Qatar Airways A380 service will also be able to enjoy the elegantly designed and award-winning A380 Onboard Lounge.

Another key feature of Qatar Airways A380 service is the availability of in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity, along with the state-of-the-art Oryx One entertainment system, with up to 2,000 entertainment options on individual screens in all classes.

One of the fastest growing airlines in the world, Qatar Airways has experienced rapid growth in just 18 years of operation. Today it flies a modern fleet of 164 aircraft to 151 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.
