CAPE TOWN TRAVEL TIMES REDUCED WITH DELINKED DIRECT FLIGHTS

DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways has announced that commencing November 1 of this year, the airline will operate a new direct five-time weekly route from Doha to Cape Town, South Africa. 


The Cape Town route, which is currently flown with a stopover in Johannesburg, is one of the airline’s most popular African services. Now thanks to the continuous growth of the airlines’ fleet along with an expanding customer demand the airline is delinking the route to offer this new non-stop service.


With smooth and frequent connection times in Doha, the new direct route is sure to benefit passengers flying throughout the Qatar Airways’ global network. The route will be operated with one of Qatar Airways’ state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The 787, which has a two-cabin configuration will feature 22 seats in Business Class, 232 seats in Economy Class, a state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment system as well as a full complimentary food and beverage service. 


Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “We are very pleased that we are now able to offer our passengers a dedicated non-stop service from Doha to Cape Town. Cape Town has long been one of the most popular destinations with passengers throughout our worldwide network. With the direct flights, we are now able to provide those travelling from around the world access to one of the most beautiful cities in the world in a reduced amount of travel time. We also look forward to our passengers from Cape Town experiencing our five-star service as they fly with us direct to Doha and onwards to any of our many international destinations.” 


The route is sure to be a popular option for passengers travelling with Qatar Airways from within its extensive route network in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. With an overall reduced travel time and quick transfers at the state-of-the-art Hamad International Airport (HIA), passengers are sure to have a significantly enhanced overall travel experience.


HIA is Qatar Airways new home and offers passengers a unprecedented range of services with more than 70 retail outlets, more than 30 cafes and restaurants, and multiple five-star services, including a pool, a gym, squash courts and benchmark-setting lounges. 


Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 17 years of operations, and is currently flying a modern fleet of 135 aircraft to 144 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Americas.

Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 
QR 1365 departs Doha (DOH) at 01:25; arrives Cape Town (CPT) at 10:15
QR 1366 departs Cape Town (CPT) at 12:45; arrives Doha (DOH) at 23:30
