Since 1 March 2020, Qatar Airways has focused on repatriating travellers affected by the COVID-19 crisis and has helped carry over 330,000 Australians and international travellers home. We are proud to have kept flying throughout the pandemic and bringing home as many travellers as possible.
Today, we continue to support the Australian community and beyond to say thank you, and to give back to those who need it most remaining committed to the Australian market.
Good Friday Appeal29 March 2024 - Qatar Airways is proud to continue its support for the Good Friday Appeal for the fourth consecutive year with a generous donation of $80,000 and $30,000 in Business Class flights for the annual fundraiser event. The Appeal raises critical funds for The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) in Melbourne and its expanded regional efforts. Qatar Airways’ team members based at the airline’s Australian headquarters in Melbourne will also be volunteering their time on the day for Kids Day Out and taking calls from donors during the telethon.
07 April 2023 - Qatar Airways is incredibly honored to contribute to the Good Friday Appeal, marking its third consecutive year of being involved with a generous donation of $80,000 and $30,000 in Business Class flights for their annual fundraiser raffle. The charity raises money to enable The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia to continue providing world-class care for children. The Appeal brings all sectors of the community together to raise funds every year culminating in a telethon on Good Friday.
April 2021 and 2022 - In both 2021 and 2022, Qatar Airways proudly supported the Good Friday Appeal with an $80,000 donation and a prize of two return economy flights for the Virtual Run for the Kids event.
Our contribution to the Good Friday Appeal is in support of transforming the future of children's health and to push the boundaries of paediatric care.
Redkite13 May 2023 - Qatar Airways is honored once again to partner with Sydney Swans for the annual Redkite Day. To support this great cause, a competition was held for anyone who donated over $25 to win return flights valued at $5,000 AUD.
As a result, a record total of $43,528 has been raised for Redkite this year to help support the families in need. It is truly incredible to support Redkite every year who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
23 July 2022 - Qatar Airways is excited to support with the fundraising efforts for the annual Sydney Swans Redkite Day. To raise funds for Redkite, a competition was held for everyone who donated $20 or more for the chance to win return economy tickets valued at $5,000 AUD.
Every year 5,000 Australians are impacted by childhood cancer. Redkite provides practical, emotional and financial support for families facing childhood cancer. We are extremely proud and honored to help contribute to the $50,000 donation goal for Redkite this year.
25 July 2021 - Qatar Airways is delighted to kickstart the fundraising efforts for the annual Sydney Swans Red Day for Redkite. We are extremely proud of supporting Redkite initiative to provide practical, emotional and financial support for families facing childhood cancer. We donated 500 virtual kites and $5,000 to the charity, as well as donating our in-game LED stadium branding for Redkite.
StreetSmart Australia24 August 2021 - Qatar Airways continues their local partnership with StreetSmart Australia to support communities in need around the country throughout the Winter season. The Winter drive is supporting local organisations in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide to help in their efforts to support disadvantaged Australians and those experiencing homelessness. Qatar Airways donated 7,500 Business Class amenities to the various charities, including 2,500 Business Class pyjamas, 2,500 amenity kits and 2,500 blankets.
With these amenities, we were able to support seventeen local charities on behalf of StreetSmart. The organisations include MarionLIFE Community Services Inc., St John's Youth services, Treasure Boxes Inc, and Women's Safety Services SA, 3rd Space, Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre, Momentum Collective, New Farm Neighbourhood Centre, Northern Rivers Community Gateway, Warrina domestic & family violence specialist services, Sacred Heart Mission, Coast Shelter,Indigo Junction, Ruah Community Services, St. Patrick's Community Support Centre, Urban Fabric, Youth Futures, and Coast Shelter.
29 March 2021 - Qatar Airways announced a local partnership with not-for-profit organisation StreetSmart Australia to support communities in need around the country. The collaboration celebrates the airline’s first local charitable partnership in Australia. Supporting local organisations in Melbourne and Sydney, to help in their efforts to support disadvantaged Australians and those experiencing homelessness, Qatar Airways donated 4,500 Business Class amenities to the various charities, including 1,500 Business Class pyjamas, 1,500 amenity kits and 1,500 blankets.
With these amenities, we were able to support nine local charities on behalf of StreetSmart. The organisations in Sydney include Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, Haymarket Foundation, Parramatta Mission, and Liverpool Health Centre; and in Melbourne they include Youth Projects, Sacred Heart Mission, Safe Futures, St Mary's House of Welcome, and Launch Housing.
