Book flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bahrain with Qatar Airways

Arriving in Bahrain

Positioned strategically on a headland between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the kingdom of Bahrain is a vibrant and important member of the Middle East Emirates that has real power and influence in the region.

This ultra-modern, forward-looking location is an energetic powerhouse that welcomes visitors from all over the world.

But tucked away behind the modern buildings and commercial districts is a more ancient landscape filled with reminders of Bahrain’s influence throughout the ages. Book a flight to Bahrain with Qatar Airways and you’ll quickly discover that there’s much more to this kingdom than first meets the eye.

Tourist attractions

While central locations such as the capital Manama, Riffa, Hamad Town and Muharraq are relatively modern, there are more ancient attractions for visitors to see. Qala'at al-Bahrain (Bahrain Fort) is a 10-minute drive from Manama, and has been beautifully restored to almost its original condition. A museum explaining the significance of the fort is located close by.

In fact, for such a small country Bahrain is practically bristling with forts, with Abu Mahir Fort and the 16th century Arad Fort in Muharraq, and the Sheikh Salman bin Ahmad Al Fateh Fort in Riffa, overlooking the Hunanaiya Valley.

One must-see attraction is the Tree of Life, located in the middle of the desert and considered to be unique because of its remarkable location. Take the Zallaq Highway heading east, and look for the signs to the Tree.

Bahrain is also filled with museums and galleries, with the Beit al Quran in Hoora well worth a visit because of its collection of incredibly rare Islamic manuscripts.
