Doha, QATAR – Canadian rock star Bryan Adams is set to bring his Room Service 2006 concert tour to Doha next week with key sponsor Qatar Airways offering special show packages for people living and working in the Gulf.
The February 1 concert at Al Sadd Stadium in the Qatari capital is the star’s only Middle East date and promises to be an event to remember.
Doha-based Qatar Airways, through Discover Qatar – the airline’s wholly-owned destination management division – is offering concert packages, including return air tickets, hotel accommodation, ground transportation and show tickets, all of which can be purchased at any Qatar Airways reservations office or local travel agency across the GCC.
All proceeds from concert ticket sales will go to the ‘Reach Out To Asia’ charity, a fund-raising drive launched last September to help the underprivileged and disadvantaged across Asia. Since the campaign was launched, the charity has raised more than US$25million for worthy causes.
Bryan Adams helped kick-off the campaign at a charity gala dinner in November when he appeared as guest of honour at the high-profile event, dedicated to the victims of the 2004 southeast Asia tsunami disaster and last year’s devastating Pakistan earthquake.
During the gala dinner, Bryan Adams auctioned off an electric guitar signed by a host of international music legends raising US$2.7million for Reach Out To Asia’.
Qatar Airways, together with Qatar Foundation and the Doha Asian Games Organising Committee, are the founders of ‘Reach Out To Asia’. The charity is extending its hand of friendship and help to the many countries across Asia, which have, and still are, experiencing serious social difficulties in terms of poverty, inadequate healthcare, homelessness, disease and natural disasters.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said he was delighted, on behalf of Qatar Airways, to welcome back one of the rock world’s biggest stars to Doha on February 1.
“It is extremely exciting to see music legend Bryan Adams visit Doha yet again and bring his unique talent to these shores,” he said.
“We have some great Bryan Adams concert packages on offer which can be bought at any Qatar Airways office or travel agency across the GCC. With just a week to go before the big event, tickets are selling very fast.
“I am sure that people living and working in the GCC countries will enjoy what promises to be an excellent concert, the only one being given by Bryan Adams in the Middle East as part of his world tour.
“Reach Out To Asia is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, charity drives ever seen in Qatar and indeed in the Middle East,” added Al Baker.
