QATAR AIRWAYS TO RESUME DOUBLE-DAILY SERVICE ON HONG KONG-DOHA ROUTE

DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways will resume full operations of both daily services between Hong Kong and Doha, effective February 16, 2016. The two daily Hong Kong-Doha flights are currently jointly operated by Qatar Airways and its oneworld alliance member – Cathay Pacific. The latter first started servicing Doha directly in March 2014.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “The resumption of our twice-daily services on the Hong Kong-Doha route will strengthen our competitiveness and leadership in one of the world’s key global aviation hubs. Next year will mark a decade of successful operations for Qatar Airways in Hong Kong and we are pleased to inform our Hong Kong-based passengers that they can look forward to our award-winning hospitality on board both daily flights departing from Hong Kong direct to our state-of-the-art home Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar, from February 16, 2016 onwards.

“Cathay Pacific remains one of our important strategic partners within the oneworld alliance and I am confident both Qatar Airways and Cathay Pacific will continue to explore mutual business cooperation opportunities in the future.”

The operating carrier change will have minimum impact on passengers who are booked on Cathay Pacific-operated flights from Hong Kong to Doha after February 15. Affected passengers will be re-accommodated on the Qatar Airways-operated flight due to operate on the same schedule.

Qatar Airways’ current codeshare arrangements on Cathay Pacific beyond Hong Kong to Australia, New Zealand, Korea and Japan remain unchanged. Passengers will continue to enjoy the convenience of enhanced frequency and greater choice of destinations within Australasia as a result of this codeshare arrangement between the two oneworld member airlines.

Updated daily flights between Hong Kong and Doha from February 16, 2016 (all times local)
