Kuwait City, KUWAIT - The second leg of Qatar Airways' Gulf-wide roadshow promoting the airline's forthcoming exciting summer launch of flights to New York and Washington DC touched down in Kuwait City on Tuesday, 29 May 2007.
Billed as the USA Roadshow Tour, the promotional activities included a media briefing hosted by Qatar Airways General Manager Commercial Ali Al Rais. And tour operators, travel agents, corporates, members of Qatar Airways' award-winning Privilege Club frequent flyer programme, business leaders and local dignitaries attended a lavish special US-themed gala dinner in the city that night.
The roadshow kicked off in Dubai on Sunday and following Kuwait, it continues its journey to Manama in Bahrain today before concluding in Doha, the airline's operational hub, on June 3.
Other GCC roadshow dates:-
- Bahrain Thursday 31 May 2007
- Doha Sunday 3 June 2007
The roadshow coincides with the launch of a Gulf-wide media advertising campaign designed to highlight awareness in the GCC markets of Qatar Airways new flights being operated from Doha, capital of the State of Qatar.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker expressed his excitement over the new flights, which mark the airline's first move into the US market.
"Qatar Airways is delighted to be flying to the USA this summer and we want to share that excitement with our partners in the travel industry and business leaders across the region," he said.
"With the launch of these new flights to New York and Washington, we are offering the travelling public from Kuwait with greater choice and options of flying Qatar Airways' award-winning Five Star service to these exciting destinations in the United States.
"These launches are the highlight of our expansion plans for 2007 and are part of the airline's strategy to grow its international route network to key business and leisure cities."
Qatar Airways will fly four-times-a-week to Newark Liberty International Airport, gateway to New York City, from June 26. The flights, which will operate via Geneva - another new destination for Qatar Airways - will also be the first from the Middle East to Newark Liberty International Airport.
Washington will come on-line less than a month later on July 19. Qatar Airways will be the only Middle East carrier flying daily non-stop to Dulles International Airport in Washington DC.
Qatar Airways operates 4 flights a day between Kuwait City and Doha with good onward connections to the airline's new USA-bound services.
The GCC roadshow follows on from a similar successful round of press briefings held across the United States last week.
And across India, a number of promotional activities are planned beginning this week with a media briefing in Mumbai and Delhi. The briefings will highlight Qatar Airways' excellent connections from India through the airline's hub in Doha, and onwards to New York and Washington DC.
