Seychelles International Airport is your welcoming gateway as you depart from the paradise island of Mahé. This warm and friendly airport is located approximately 12 kilometres southeast of the capital and offers attentive staff dedicated to making your journey stress-free.
When considering transport to the airport, a taxi is the easiest option; however, be mindful of potential night-time surcharges if you have an evening flight. Alternatively, buses run regularly every 20-30 minutes from the capital’s centre, or you may utilise the limousine service offered by many hotels for VIP guests. Please note that parking is extremely limited, so using public transport or taxis is the most practical solution.
Upon arrival, head to the main terminal's Departure hall for check-in. Although the airport is relatively small, security checks are thorough and lengthy, so allow yourself about one to one and a half hours to complete both check-in and customs clearance. For your comfort, facilities are adequate, including Wi-Fi throughout the terminal. You can enjoy light snacks and beverages from the coffee bars, or a meal from the restaurant which serves food until the early evening. Remember to avoid taking photographs while at the airport due to the operational military base situated near the runway.
Experience the rich history and cultural diversity of Edinburgh, Scotland’s captivating capital city. There, you can immerse yourself in a place known for its imposing architecture and world-renowned festivals.
Edinburgh Castle is the dominant feature of the skyline, but exploring beneath its granite walls reveals museums and quaint alleyways. Take time to visit the beautiful Abbey and Palace of Holyroodhouse, which showcases an impressive art collection. For a peaceful afternoon, head over to the Royal Botanic Garden for a tranquil escape.
Make Edinburgh Castle a priority on your list of places to see; listen out for the daily noonday gun. Discover the Grassmarket area of the Old Town, filled with charming cafés, restaurants, and shops. You can get a unique panoramic view of the city from the Camera Obscura on Castle Hill.
Edinburgh also boasts excellent concert and theatre venues like the Edinburgh Playhouse and Festival Theatre. Before your trip concludes, try to visit Arthur’s Seat, an extinct volcano offering spectacular views just east of the city.
