Seoul is a vibrant metropolis – the largest in South Korea and its famous capital. This bustling city is both a popular stop off with tourists and an important financial and commercial hub, with an economy that is based on high-tech and cutting edge industries. Whilst Seoul is famous for being one of the world’s most digital cities, there’s still plenty of culture to discover where traditional teahouses sit alongside gleaming skyscrapers.
Flying from Riyadh
Dominated, not by its terminals but by the magnificent mosque that lies at the very heart of the complex, Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport is a rapidly expanding air transport hub that is becoming increasingly important to the region.
Qatar Airways flights from Riyadh connect this busy business hub to Doha with regular daily flights. The airport itself is modern with interesting architectural focal points that draw on traditional Islamic design.
Parking and transportation
The airport’s parking facilities are excellent, and situated very close to the main terminals. Two very large multi-storey garages are located directly in front of the passenger terminals, on either side of the mosque. With a capacity to hold up to 11,600 vehicles, there is plenty of space in both long and short-term parking areas.
The car parks are connected to the terminals and the mosque by pedestrian walkways under the arrivals level roadway. While there is no public transport to the airport, there are shuttle services from some of the more popular hotels, and a fleet of taxis transport passengers to, and from, the airport. Please note that women are not allowed to drive on public roads in Saudi Arabia.
Arriving in Riyadh
Qatar Airways flights from Riyadh depart from Terminal 1. Moving walkways connect the main terminals (including Terminal 1) and are located in the three link buildings between the terminals.
Airbridges connect passengers to their flights from the departures area, removing the need for bus journeys out to the aircraft.
Facilities and amenities
The focus of the airport is the main mosque, a beautiful building that can house up to 5,000 worshippers inside and a further 5,000 in the plaza outside. Within Terminal 1, there are a range of retail outlets selling luxury goods, travel essentials, books and magazines.
Other facilities include a bank, ATM machines, and a range of cafés and restaurants serving quality international cuisine, snacks and beverages.
Arriving in Seoul
This historically and economically significant location is one of South Korea’s powerhouses, as well as being its main air transport and shipping hub. However, it is also a very beautiful location, with numerous islands to explore and a strong cultural identity that manifests in traditional architecture, temples, and parks that are truly stunning.
Book a flight to Incheon with Qatar Airways and whether you’re a business traveller or are visiting South Korea as a leisure tourist, you’ll receive a warm and genuinely friendly welcome. Combined with excellent facilities and a host of attractions, Incheon is one of South Korea’s best kept secrets,
Incheon’s Chinatown is the only official Chinatown in South Korea, and is right next to Liberty Park, a stunning open space full of tranquil corners where you can escape the noise and energy of the city.
Incheon is a very modern city, and many of its attractions are relatively new. For a fantastic view of the city head to the North Asia Trade Tower in the heart of the rapidly expanding Songdo International City. For a more traditional flavour, the Incheon Islands are a great escape from the bright lights, and life here is more sedate.
The islands are accessible by ferry, and are criss-crossed with hiking trails and relatively quiet beaches. The best islands to visit are Daecheongdo, Yeonpyeongdo, Ganghwado, Yeongjongdo, Muuido, and Deokjeokdo.
Back in the city, the Arts Centre is an arts and entertainment venue located in Guwol-dong, with frequent performances of traditional Korean plays, dancing and theatre. The Centre sits in the middle of a thriving retail district too, making it convenient for shopping and browsing.
Flights to Incheon with Qatar Airways land at Incheon International Airport, South Korea’s main air transport hub.
