To reach the airport, several excellent transport options are available to you. The airport is conveniently located within the city boundary, just over five and a half miles from the financial centre. RENFE trains connect Terminal 4 with Prínicipe Pio station, while the Madrid Metro Line 8 serves Terminals 2 and 4, linking you directly to Nuevos Ministerios. Municipal buses and white official taxis (with a red stripe) are also readily available. If you are driving, choose from six public parking areas, including short-term car parks P1 and P2, or the long-term remote car park, where a free shuttle operates to the terminals.
Allow at least two hours before boarding time to check in and proceed through security at Terminal 4. Once airside, the award-winning T4 terminal offers abundant amenities. You will find spacious lounge areas, including VIP and exclusive lounges for first and business class travellers, plus a large selection of retail outlets selling luxury goods and essentials. Business travellers can utilise the full-service business centre and meeting rooms available for hire. For families, the airport features a dedicated nursery and play area for children.
Basra is a truly vibrant and historic Iraqi port city. It's strategically located on the Shatt al-Arab waterway, which is formed by the convergence of the legendary Tigris and Euphrates rivers. This unique geography has often earned it the nickname the 'Venice of the East', due to its intricate system of canals and long history as a major commercial centre.
The city merges ancient culture with contemporary sophistication, and its roots date back to the 7th century. To immerse yourself in its deep past, visit the Basra Museum, which showcases a compelling collection of artefacts from the Mesopotamian civilisation.
For a taste of local life, explore the old bazaars, which bustle with traders selling regional spices, textiles, and Basra's world-renowned fresh dates. You can also experience the city's modern heartbeat during an evening walk along the lively Basra Corniche, a scenic waterfront promenade.
