Qatar Airways Hosts 2023 Annual Financiers’ Meeting in Seattle and Outlines Vision for 2023/2024 and Beyond
Network Expansion, Competitive Differentiation, Financial Performance, and Sustainability drives dialogue with Leading Aviation industry Banks, Lessors and Insurers
DOHA, Qatar Qatar Airways hosted its 2023 Financiers’ Meeting in Seattle under the theme of “Driving Success through Partnership”. The event saw the world’s leading aviation finance companies including, lessors, banks and insurance businesses take part in a wide range of discussions relating to Qatar Airways Group financial performance for 2022/2023, and the ambitions for 2023/2024 and beyond.
The Qatar Airways team outlined its partnership strategy which encompasses, airports, manufacturers, the aviation finance community, airlines, as well as, operations and maintenance companies. Qatar Airways’ continued network expansion, through new routes and resumptions is boosting frequencies to global destinations and the remainder of 2023 through 2024 is anticipated to bring an up to 10 additional new routes in addition to the 7 new routes and 11 resumptions announced earlier this year.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency, Mr Akbar Al Baker said: “Excellence is our guiding principle which has helped us lead our industry forward and navigate our way through our collective challenges. We themed this year’s event under the title ‘Driving Success Through Partnership’ because we can be stronger when we work together. The market’s response to Qatar Airways’ products and offers has been very positive in FY22-23. This has enabled the company to operate at passenger traffic and revenues above pre COVID levels and to sustainably enhance its global footprint. Through harnessing our collective innovation we can increase efficiency and reduce air travel costs to customers, and FY23-24 will be a further year of significant growth.”
The majority of the previously grounded A350s have returned to service since February, and over the last few months, nine Boeing 737-8s have successfully been introduced into service in record time. Next year, Qatar Airways will start taking the first deliveries of the 25 new Boeing 737-10s on order.
Sustainability discussions focused on a wide range of operational measures spanning fleet, flight operations and technology as well as sustainable sourcing and supply chain. Sustainable Aviation Fuels remain the biggest potential contributor to reducing carbon emissions for commercial aircraft, both old and new. His Excellency called upon the aerospace industry to keep innovating and transforming in order to ensure fleets are renewed with the most fuel-efficient aircraft to significantly reduce carbon emissions in line with the IATA net zero objectives.
Competitive differentiation in Qatar Airways in product strategy was broadly discussed along with Qatar Airways’ equity investments in the industry’s leading airlines which include IAG, LATAM and also JSX who were all represented at the meeting.
