Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Receives Prestigious ‘2022 Joseph Murphy Award’ by Air Transport World

DOHA, Qatar: Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, received the ‘2022 Joseph Murphy Award’ by Air Transport World (ATW), a leading online and print trade publication covering the global aviation industry. He received the award at the ATW’s 48th Annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards ceremony, which was held at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort and Convention Hotel.
The esteemed award recognises Mr. Al Baker’s global influence and visionary approach towards the aviation industry, demonstrating strategic thinking and innovative direction in shepherding the growth of Qatar Airways’ business and the wider aviation industry. The phenomenal success of Qatar Airways can be attributed to his strategic management and leadership. He has been long known as an industry pioneer, contributing to the sustainable growth of Qatar, and leaving an impact within the country and beyond.

Mr. Al Baker is one of the most influential figures in international aviation. Under his leadership, Qatar Airways became the world’s fastest-growing airline, operating one of the youngest and most technologically advanced fleets in the sky. A widely recognised and well-respected industry innovator, Mr. Al Baker is currently a member of the Board of Governors (BoG) of the influential global aviation industry body International Air Transport Association (IATA) and he is chairman of award winning oneworld alliance.
