Poland is full of monuments and picturesque ruins that bear witness to its past. The Russians, Prussians and Austrians have all left their mark on the cultural landscapes of the country, and on the urban and rural architecture in particular. The churches are interesting to visit for their grand Baroque architecture, and the many roadside shrines definitely make for some attractive photo opportunities.

The capital, Warsaw, has a beautiful setting on the River Vistula, one of the great waterways of the region.
