Sarajevo’s Old Town is the heart of the city – a maze of cobbled streets lined with mosques, restaurants and enticing cafés. Visit the historic Latin Bridge, where Archduke Franz Ferdinand’s assassination took place – a pivotal event that triggered World War I. For a deeper understanding of the city’s past, explore its many museums.
Just a short tram ride away, Vrelo Bosne offers a tranquil escape from the city. Nestled at the source of the Bosna River, this scenic park is perfect for strolls or an afternoon picnic, especially during springtime.

Activities in Sarajevo
Take the cable car from the city centre to the top of Mount Trebević for sweeping views across Sarajevo and the surrounding countryside. On the way down, stop at the abandoned bobsleigh track from the 1984 Winter Olympics – now a striking open-air gallery of local street art. Sarajevo also hosts year-round festivals celebrating music, dance, and Balkan life, as well as food festivals that highlight the region’s varied and delicious cuisine.
Visiting in winter? Then make sure to travel to the nearby mountains of Bjelašnica and Jahorina, where excellent snow conditions and challenging runs attract skiers from across the region.
