The National Museum of Somalia is perhaps the best place to get a real feel for the history and culture of this complex region. The museum re-opened in 2014, and currently hosts several exhibitions of cultural artefacts that document the life, history and culture of the Somali people.
The Mosque of Islamic Solidarity is one of the main buildings in the city, and has been lovingly restored. It’s a focal point of life in the city, and the call to prayer rings out across the hustle and bustle of modern life.
The centre for culture is the National Theatre of Somalia, which is showcasing Mogadishu as a major centre for the performing arts in this part of Africa, bringing new and exciting performances to the city.
