Ticketing FAQs
Yes. Bookings can be changed or cancelled if fare restrictions permit. It is possible to change a passenger's reservation using your respective Global Distribution System.
No. Time limit extensions are not permitted on QR bookings.
No need to request for seat confirmation on waitlist segments. QR uses an auto waitlist clearance tool which reviews waitlist segment(s) of PNR's and ranks them in an order based on pre-set criterias. There is no possibility of manual intervention.
Meal: Yes, you can request for special meals using the 4 letter request code in the GDS. Please note that the system will not accept any meal requests within 24 hours to departure. For a list of meals acceptable by QR, please refer to GGAIRQRMEALS in the system or click here for special dietary requirements.
Wheelchair: You may also request wheelchair for your passenger for non-medical cases only. For medical cases, please refer to GGAIRQRMEDA.
Bassinet: Qatar Airways provides its passengers with the facility to use a bassinet, carrycot or baby basket located at the bulkhead for use during flight. Because of the location where this can be accommodated in the aircraft, total number of bassinet, carrycot or baby basket that can be provided on a given flight are limited. To request the use of a bassinet during a journey please contact your nearest Qatar Airways office/Contact Center or enter the request in the PNR and queue it to your local QR station. Only PNR’s having an infant passenger can be assigned the appropriate seat for the parent. A bassinet seat may be requested in advance provided that your passenger is traveling with an infant.
For tickets issued effective 15th June 2013, revalidations are no longer permitted.
Even tickets eligible for free-of-charge (FOC) changes need to be reissued by the respective travel agencies.
An agent wishing to assign, change seats or update a passenger's APIS information (Advance Passenger Information) can do so from the homepage of qatarairways.com. Please click on the “Manage A Booking" tab. You will need to use the Qatar Airways booking reference number and the primary passenger's last name.
Seat assignment can be selected or changed up to 24 hours before departure. However, this is dependent on availability and will only be confirmed upon check-in.
To change a passenger's meal preferences, please contact your nearest Qatar Airways office.
There is no need to reconfirm any QR bookings as long as they are booked and associated correctly.
The only exception to this is for segments having Jeddah (JED) as the departure or turn around point. For these bookings mandatory reconfirmation is required at least 72 Hours prior to departure. All reservations not having RR status as per this requirement will be cancelled, except Point of Sale (POS) - EU / RU / US / TR / AU / ZA / IL / NZ / CA / AR / BR.
Yes. Qatar Airways offers cruise fares on specific routes between Europe and Asia and Europe and the Middle East.

Under the general rule, QR does not require an “Ok to Board” VISA message each time a customer departs on his/her journey. It is the responsibility of the passenger or his/her agent to ensure that their travel documents (including passport and VISA) are in order for the destination and transfer points of the journey. All documents will be verified by QR at time of check in.
For visas such as Tourist Visa/Visit Visa /Family Visas, it is required for the sponsor to visit the nearest QR office or the travel agent is required to send a clear copy of the visa, clearly mentioning the PNR reference or the ticket number via FAX or email to QR local City Ticket Office (CTO). Once QR updates the CKIN message, the pnr will have the required authority for an ok to board.
In addition to the appropriate VISA, QR requires sight of the Seaman’s Book and Letter of Guarantee. A clear copy of both along with the Visa and Visa deposit slip showing the PNR/Ticket number should be faxed or emailed to the local QR ticket office for confirmation. Once documentation is confirmed QR will update the PNR. The Seaman's book is also presented at time of check-in.
Registered Trade Portal users can submit a name correction/change request through the name correction/change self-services page
QR baggage allowance is reflected on the ticket as. In case ticket has not been issued, baggage allowance can be displayed when you price the itinerary.
To check the applicable RBD or booking class for an interline routing on QR stock, you will need to use the FQR command in Amadues.
FQR1 gives us the possible routing with airline information for fare basis HLEE6MOM in line 01.
To calculate for the fare difference, unused tickets are re-priced using auto pricing entries using the current applicable fare at the time of reissue.
For partially used tickets, auto price using fare applied on date of issue.

Refer to an example below, where ticket is issued on 1st July and it is partially used. Passenger wants to apply refund on this ticket
As per the fare rules – cancellation penalty is AED 250. Deduct the applicable one way fare for this ticket. In this case it is U class at AED1730 as shown here.
Refund calculation is as per the sample below. XP is the tax code used by QR towards collection of Service fee/No Show fee or Date Change fee which is non-refundable.
In this example, passenger is eligible for a refund of AED 1505.
The minimum connecting time between Qatar Airways flights in Doha is 45 minutes (60 minutes for flights to the United States). This allows sufficient time for passenger’s transfer as well as the transfer of baggage to his/her onward connecting flight.
In determining the minimum connecting time between transit flights in Doha International Airport, various factors are taken into consideration, such as aircraft parking bay assignment, air traffic clearance, aircraft ramp equipment positioning, as well as other airport ground operational procedures.
Under ideal circumstances, the 45 minute minimum connecting time (or 60 minutes for flights to the United States) can be met.

You may notice some changes to the availability of QR flights. We have enchanced our system to provide better access to inventory based on the actual fare paid by the passenger.
Below is a brief summary of changes implemented recently which will help you understand and efficiently manage your bookings.
Availability
Availability on a flight can be different in an existing PNR compared to availability outside a PNR. When there is an active PNR for the passenger and changes are required, please retrieve the PNR first before making the availability entry. The system will display the requested availability based on the Point of Commencement (POC) of the holding itinerary of the booking.
It is imperative that under such circumstances agents should not sell seat on different PNRs but instead respect the availability shown while the PNR is active and sell the seats which are available.
Example:
Segments sold in a PNR
QR 006 K 25APR 1*LHRDOH HK1 1050 1935 25APR E 0 333
QR 200 K 25APR 1*DOHBOM HK1 2125 0320 26APR E 0 77L

Booking Sequence
When requesting an availability / sell, agents are required to book in sequence of travel.
Rebooking Sequence
When a passenger wants to pre-pone or post-pone the entire journey, please follow the steps below:
- Retrieve the existing PNR
- Book the new segments
- Cancel the original dates
Married Segment Abuse
QR allocates seat inventory based on the passenger's entire itinerary, POS and the revenue associated with the itinerary. When a flight is down in an availability display, as part of a connection, the entire connection must be sold together. Married segment logic is a mechanism to designate a "married unit" for online connection segments sold together.
If you have married segments and need to rebook part of the itinerary e.g. outbound journey, add the new segments prior to cancelling the existing ones. Always request for OnD availability i.e. availability of the entire routing instead of segments e.g. LHR-BKK instead of LHR-DOH and DOH-BKK.
After creation of a PNR, QR ARI system leaves a remark with time limit at the end of the day.
For example: SSR OTHS 1A PLS TICKET BY 2359/30JAN2014 LCLT AT BOARD POINT OR QR WILL CXL

Note: Certain promotional fares and bookings created close to departure date have an immediate ticketing requirement. In these cases, QR will automatically cancel any unticketed PNR at the end of the processing day.
Any passenger who does not check in for his/her flight and has not changed or cancelled the booking at least 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure time is considered as a No Show and subject to a No Show fee.
Also any passenger who, after checking in does not then appear at the Gate before the flight closes will also be considered a No Show.
For active bookings, QR will add a no show remark to the PNR. This can be found on the PNR or the PNR history. For purged bookings the same can be checked if the agency has access to retrieve PDR’s (past date records).
QR penalties/fare rules for most fares are available in all GDS.
To view, enter the fare display in your GDS and make sure to indicate date of issue to retrieve a past fare then select the penalties option of the applicable fare.
The rules will be displayed as shown here.
