DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways is celebrating its global partnership with football giants FC Barcelona with a brand new social media competition, “Join the Club”, giving its fans on Facebook an opportunity to win a number of exciting prizes.
To participate, fans simply need to like Qatar Airways’ official Facebook page www.facebook.com/qatarairways, sign up and invite a maximum of 10 friends to join the contest.
The contest which runs until 7th October, 2014, will enable the grand prize winner to receive return tickets onboard Qatar Airways to Barcelona, watch a FC Barcelona match at Camp Nou, and receive an official FC Barcelona football shirt signed by the players. The name of the lucky winner will be announced on 15th October, 2014.
Qatar Airways is also hosting this contest on its official website qatarairways.com/jointheclub. Entrants can also participate from their mobile devices, and share it with their friends on Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and Pinterest.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker said that with an ever-growing audience on social media, the airline is keen to engage with passionate football and FC Barcelona fans worldwide who wish to experience the live action at Camp Nou.
Qatar Airways has a robust social media presence and has reached over 5 million fans – the airline is currently in second position on Facebook for the most “Liked” global airline.
Launched on Facebook in April 2011, Qatar Airways has achieved remarkable fan growth, due to a wide variety of promotions including fan engagement, exclusive airfares, and the airline’s sponsorship of the world’s most popular football club, FC Barcelona.
“Fundamental to our FCB social media promotions is the opportunity for the fans of Qatar Airways and FC Barcelona to interact directly with us online. We are very proud of our partnership with FC Barcelona and we are always looking for innovative ways to engage with the fans of the club,” said Mr. Al Baker.
Qatar Airways entered into a strategic three-year partnership with FC Barcelona in July 2013 that sees the airline's brand name appear on the FCB team shirts from the start of the 2013/14 season.
The airline currently operates 10 weekly non-stop flights from Doha to Barcelona with great connections from points across the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa.
Qatar Airways has seen rapid growth in just 17 years of operation, to the point where today it is flying a modern fleet of 136 aircraft to 144 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.
