Doha, QATAR – Rolls Royce and Bentley car enthusiasts, in Doha for the start of a Gulf-wide touring rally, were special invited guests of Qatar Airways for a dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Qatar Airways is the official airline for the Arabian Gulf Adventure, a Rolls Royce and Bentley car owners’ tour, and the first tour of its type in the Middle East.

The Rolls Royce and Bentley car owners Arabian Gulf Adventure takes in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, Oman, and Dubai over a three week period. Over 70 cars are involved in the tour which is only the third rally of its kind in the world.

During the dinner reception, the airline’s Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker extended a warm welcome to the touring party, saying that there was no better place to start their drive than in Doha at the very heart of the Arabian Gulf.

“Qatar Airways is honoured to be the official carrier. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the State of Qatar, its rich cultural heritage, its magnificent landscape and above all, our Arabian hospitality for which this region is renowned.”

Al Baker received loud applause from the gathered guests as the airline CEO highlighted Qatar Airways’ award-winning product. The touring enthusiasts had all recently experienced Qatar Airways’ service, having arrived in Doha a few days prior and subsequently enjoying sightseeing around the city. The driving tour of the GCC kicks off on Friday with the cavalcade heading south to Saudi Arabia.

Tour organiser Peter Cameron, who was the mastermind behind two previous tours held in Malaysia and Borneo, spoke of his strong connection to Qatar, and highlighted the warmth and hospitality of the Qatari people.

“Every flight I’ve taken with Qatar Airways has been fantastic, from their ground staff all the way to the leaving the aircraft. It is truly a five-star airline.

“You’ll not find a warmer welcome than in the State Of Qatar. On behalf of the tour, I would like to thank Qatar Airways for their support, and believe me when I say it has been significant, and we greatly appreciate their endeavour in making this once in a lifetime opportunity a reality,” said Cameron.

Cameron thanked all the sponsors involved in the evening, which also saw several of the touring cars showcased on the lawn of the Four Seasons Hotel. He reiterated that the tour would not have been possible without the support and logistics of a number of individuals and companies.
