Qatar Airways Resumes Flights To Beirut

 Doha, QATAR – Qatar Airways this evening resumed flights to Beirut becoming the first international scheduled carrier to operate into the Lebanese capital following an easing of political tension in the city.

Flight QR 422 departed Doha International Airport at 1932 hrs, with a scheduled arrival into Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut at 2237 hrs. The return flight, QR 423 was due to leave Beirut at 2335 hrs with a scheduled arrival into Doha at 0225 hrs the following day.

Qatar Airways will resume its normal flying schedule on the route tomorrow, Friday May 16, with twice-daily flights offering both morning and evening departures as per the following times.

QR 2422 departs Doha International Airport at 0810 hrs, arrives Beirut at 1115 hrs

QR 422 departs Doha International Airport at 1615 hrs, arrives Beirut at 1920 hrs

QR 2423 departs Rafic Hariri International Airport at 1215 hrs, arrives Doha at 1505 hrs

QR 423 departs Rafic Hariri International Airport at 2100 hrs, arrives Doha at 2350 hrs

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said the airline was committed to restoring flights to Beirut to meet the needs of the travelling public.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010.
