Doha, QATAR – Qatar Airways’ multi award-winning Premium Class service has received fresh industry recognition in two separate award ceremonies held in the Middle East and South Africa.
The carrier continued its impressive run of awards by being voted Best First Class airline at the Middle East Customer Care Excellence Awards Institute ceremony, held at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Qatar Airways Executive Vice President Commercial Ali Al Rais received the award on behalf of the airline.
Created by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute, the accolades honour those businesses in the region that have excelled in providing top quality customer service.
In Johannesburg, Qatar Airways was named Best Business Airline at the inaugural Africa Investor’s “Tourism Investor Awards”. The award recognised Qatar Airways’ superior quality service over and above its competition, as well as its contribution to the development of tourism on the African continent.
The awards ceremony, held at the Park Hyatt Regency Hotel, saw the Doha-based carrier fight off stiff competition from five other leading airlines to receive the honour in front of 300 leading tourism investors, developers, tourism experts and industry peers.
Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said the honours clearly acknowledged that the airline had successfully won over corporate travellers by offering the highest levels of service.
“These two awards are recognition that Qatar Airways continues to lead the industry by offering the most innovative services to our valued customers,” he said.
“We pledge to continue providing our high levels of service to our demanding customers ensuring we remain a cut above the rest. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional quality as it demonstrates our commitment to customer care.”
Al Baker cited the recently-opened Premium Sales Office in Doha as further proof of Qatar Airways’ commitment to providing customers with a dedicated service.
The Premium Sales Office is a sales, reservations and ticketing centre solely for Qatar Airways’ First and Business Class passengers and is seen as a natural extension of the airline’s exclusive Premium Terminal at Doha International Airport. Both facilities offer a concierge service similar to what one would expect in a five-star hotel. With these amenities, Qatar Airways aims to make air travel as smooth and hassle-free as possible for it passengers in an increasingly competitive industry.

Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. During 2007, Qatar Airways ordered 80 Airbus A350s, together with 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s. The airline has ordered five of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ for delivery from 2010.
