Qatar Airways Honours State National Day

Doha, QATAR – Qatar Airways, the national carrier of the State of Qatar, is supporting efforts to celebrate the country’s State National Day. A number of initiatives have been sanctioned by the airline’s Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker to support the growing appreciation of the December 18 anniversary that recognises a pivotal moment in the history of the formation of modern-day Qatar.

As part of the celebrations, airline staff will be handing out Qatari flags to its passengers travelling through Doha International Airport on Thursday. Boarding passes will be stamped with a special National Day celebration symbol, while a link to the Qatar National Day website on qatarairways.com and an editorial in the airline’s December in-flight magazine highlight the occasion to a global audience.

The latest edition of the airline’s in-flight magazine features an article on Sheikh Jassim bin Muhammad bin Thani, a man who assumed leadership over Qatar on 18 December 1878, and is widely credited as being the founding father of the State of Qatar.

Al Baker emphasised the airline’s commitment to carry the story of Qatar around the world:

“Qatar Airways proudly represents the State of Qatar in over 80 destinations. The airline is one of the leading lights in marketing Qatar globally and we are extremely dedicated and proud to promote this country and its history with our award-winning 5-star service,” he said.

Further actions include special holiday packages from Qatar Airways Holidays – the tour-operating arm of Qatar Airways – in celebration of the festive season and coinciding with the State National Day holiday.

Packages include something to suit all holidays and budgets. Family vacations, romantic getaways, sun and sand beach escapes or culture and shopping city break, there are plenty of deals on offer, taking advantage of Qatar Airways’ extensive network of routes across Europe, Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Far East and North America.
