Doha, QATAR - Qatar Airways was one of the sponsors for the prestigious Qatar Festival in Paris, which took place at the famous Longchamp racecourse.
The brainchild of HE Sheikh Mohamed Bin Faleh Al-Thani, Vice Chairman of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club, the Qatar Festival is an event that aims to promote Qatar on the international stage and Purebred Arabian horses.
The event took place on September 6, 7 and 9.
General Manager of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Mr. Sami Jassim Al-Boenain said: "It's a great honour to have Qatar Airways on board as a sponsor of this prestigious event in Paris.
"We thank our national carrier for supporting this sport and promoting it."
"We are proud to have Qatar Airways working with us."
Speaking at a press conference in Doha, before the event Mr. Sami said: "This is the first time we are hosting a festival of this level outside Qatar, and it's the first time the race has moved from Toulouse to Longchamp, the best race track in France.
"We expect a huge crowd to witness these races. Qatar has always promoted Arabian horseracing and this time we have gone a step further by going overseas and what better place to organise it than Paris."
To mark the special occasion, an auction of Purebred horses was held at Saint-Cloud Racecourse on day one, followed by the racing at Longchamp on days two and three.
This was the first time Purebred Arabian horses raced on the track at Longchamp and a packed race card was surely delightful to the spectators.
Alongside the racing, a Qatari Village was recreated showcasing music and dance as well as local Qatari food and traditional crafts.
