Qatar Airways Wins In-flight Service Excellence Award

Doha, QATAR – Five Star-ranked Qatar Airways has continued its award-winning streak by being honoured with the Inflight Service Consistency Excellence Award by leading industry audit, Skytrax.

The Doha-based carrier has added the prestigious award to its growing list of accolades earned from Skytrax over the past two years.

Already one of an elite group of only four airlines in the world ranked Five Star for service and excellence, Qatar Airways’ hospitality has been recognised further with the latest award.

Skytrax Marketing Director Peter Miller commented: “As an airline that is growing at phenomenal speed, Qatar Airways has managed to maintain and improve some of the highest standards of passenger service inflight.

“Quality leadership is often possible in the 'small is beautiful' scenario, and we honour Qatar Airways for the ability to maintain highest quality levels in its move to become a leading world player in the airline industry.

"These awards are based on real quality standards - in other words, the actual quality of product and service being delivered, every hour of every day, to an airline's customers.”

Qatar Airways cabin crew, voted for three years running as the Best in the Middle East in 2005, have maintained and improved their high standards, reflected in the Skytrax honours.

The airline’s inflight meal service is already of the highest standards, with excellent food and is undergoing a revamp with a new-style individual service that sees the removal of the traditional trolley service in premium cabins.

With a revolutionary First Class seat-cum flat bed and a sleeper seat in Business Class, Qatar Airways has made great strides in offering the best levels of comfort in the sky.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker has been instrumental in turning the airline from a small regional carrier into a leading global operator since his appointment at the helm nine years ago.

He has single-handedly shaped the airline into an award-winning international carrier from its operational hub of Doha, capital of the State of Qatar.

Qatar Airways currently operates scheduled flights from Doha to 69 destinations worldwide. Together with its codeshare partners, the airline serves more than 80 cities globally.

The airline operates a modern fleet of 43 state-of-the-art all-Airbus aircraft serving short-haul, medium-haul and long-haul routes from Doha. The fleet will almost triple in size over the next 10 years to 110 aircraft.
