Qatar Airways Exhibits At Mediterranean Travel Trade Fair 2006

Doha, QATAR – Qatar Airways is set to participate at the Mediterranean Travel Trade Fair (MTTF) in Cairo next month showcasing the airline’s award-winning Five Star Hospitality to thousands of consumers and travel trade visitors.

The airline will have a dedicated stand manned by sales and marketing staff at the Cairo International Convention and Exhibition Centre between September 5 – 7.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said: “We are exhibiting at MTTF for the third consecutive year which demonstrates the importance we have given to this special show for its high quality of visitors.

“MTTF is an ideal platform to promote our award-winning service, our latest products and destinations to the travel trade from many key markets, including Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Greece and Cyprus at this important three-day exhibition.”

Qatar Airways’ 50 sqm stand features a reception desk with seating area for meetings and presentations, together with a refreshment area, where Qatar Airways cabin crew will serve traditional Arabic coffee and dates. On each day of the trade fair, a raffle draw will take place on the stand, where visitors have the chance to win round-trip tickets from Cairo to Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok, and have first hand experience of the airline’s unique Five Star service.

Qatar Airways is one of the world’s fastest growing airlines and recognised among an elite group of only four carriers with a Five Star ranking for service and excellence awarded by Skytrax, the independent aviation industry monitoring agency.

With a fleet of 48 all-Airbus aircraft, Qatar Airways operates to 70 destinations worldwide from its operational hub of Doha, capital of the State of Qatar. The airline’s daily flights from Cairo to Doha offer convenient connections to many exciting destinations around the world. In addition to the Egyptian capital, Qatar Airways flies four-times-a-week to both Luxor and Alexandria.

Akbar Al Baker has been instrumental in turning around the airline’s fortunes, relaunching it in 1997 from a small regional carrier to a fully-fledged international operation. He has earned huge recognition for his work, including being named Airline Personality of the Year at the World Travel Awards in 2005 and guiding the company to become Airline of the Year at the recent Middle East and North Africa (MENA) annual awards.

The State of Qatar is focused on developing Qatar as a key aviation hub in the Middle East over the next few years. One step towards achieving this goal is the opening of the world’s first Premium Class Terminal at Doha International Airport later this year. Key features include a spa, jacuzzi and duty free. A brand new state-of-the-art New Doha International Airport is under construction and scheduled to open in 2009 with an initial capacity of 12 million passengers a year.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010. Qatar Airways moves to the New Doha International Airport in 2010, when the first phase of the new facility opens. For more information, visit www.ndiaproject.com

Qatar Airways is one of only six airlines in the world with a Five Star ranking for service and excellence awarded by Skytrax, the independent aviation industry monitoring agency.
