Qatar Airways Exhibits At Leading Arab Travel Show In Beirut

Doha, QATAR – Award-winning Qatar Airways, one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, is taking part in a leading travel exhibition in Beirut this week where it will showcase its Five Star hospitality.

The high profile Arab World Travel and Tourism Conference and Exhibition (AWTTE) is expected to attract thousands of visitors from the regional travel trade, corporations, media, and the public between September 29 - October 2.

The four-day show will be held at the BIEL Centre in the Lebanese capital.

Qatar Airways has a dedicated stand at the show giving visitors the opportunity to meet senior airline staff and learn more about the carrier’s high service standards and unique hospitality.

Over the next three months, Nairobi, Madrid and Berlin will be added to the airline’s rapidly growing international network from its operational hub of Doha, capital of the State of Qatar in the Arabian Gulf.

The additional routes will increase Qatar Airways’ global reach from 66 to 69 destinations across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Indian sub-continent and the Far East.

On November 15, Qatar Airways will launch five-flights-a-week to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi; Madrid will be served three-times-a-week from December 2; and Berlin four-times-a-week beginning December 15.

Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said: “AWTTE reinforces Qatar Airways’ position as a global carrier in the region. It gives us great pleasure to represent Qatar in Beirut, and at the same time, strengthen our relationships with existing trade partners and develop business with new ones.”

Speaking on the growth of Qatar Airways, Al Baker added: “Qatar Airways has experienced unprecedented expansion over the past few years and will continue well into the future.

“The airline is continuing to soar to new heights with the addition of three exciting new routes that will be launched by the end of this year.”

Qatar Airways operates a fleet of 42 all-Airbus aircraft which will almost triple in size over the next 10 years to 110 aircraft. In June, Qatar Airways announced plans at the Paris Air Show to acquire up to 80 aircraft, comprising 60 of the new generation A350s and 20 Boeing 777s worth a total US$15.2 billion.

As one of the fastest growing and youngest carriers in the world, Qatar Airways has made significant inroads in the global aviation industry to become an award-winning airline in just a few short years.

Qatar Airways is one of the launch customers of the twin-deck A380 ‘super jumbos’ with four aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2009 to coincide with the opening of the New Doha International Airport.

Qatar Airways recently retained its status as one of the only select-few Five Star-ranked airlines in the world by Skytrax, the independent aviation industry - monitoring agency.

Skytrax also named Qatar Airways’ cabin crew as Best in the Middle East for the third year running and fifth best in the world following a survey of more than 12 million passengers worldwide, while the airline also maintained its position as among the world’s top 10 carriers.

Doha-based Qatar Airways will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 Airbus A350s, 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s, with deliveries of the latter having started in November 2007. The airline is a launch customer of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ with five aircraft on order and scheduled for delivery from 2010. Qatar Airways moves to the New Doha International Airport in 2010, when the first phase of the new facility opens. For more information, visit www.ndiaproject.com
